I remember when South Dakota State said Iowa State was a winnable game all year....and it turned out to be Iowa State's only good game they played all year that year...I would love to see USD play Minny again, though haha.

Now that I think of it I do recall David saying at one of the Lunch with the U that they were seeing if schools like Michigan and Nebraska would be interested. Whether that is 2014 or later not sure, but those are possibilities too.

Below are the six home football dates for 2012…
9/1 TBA 9/8 Colgate 9/29 Illinois State 10/6 Western Illinois 10/20 NDSU 11/10 Northern Iowa
Note: October 20, 2012 is pheasant opening weekend and November 10, 2012 is the state high school football finals.
I was told that after 2013 they have asked the MVFC not to host a game on pheasant opener.
Below are important dates for the schedule:
9/8 Colgate as the Hall of Fame weekend 10/6 Western Illinois as D Days 10/20 NDSU as Family weekend

Any chance of Lamar filling the 9/1 open date or are they writing the Yotes a check to buyout the 2011 game?
Also noticed in another thread that UND has turned down numerous offers to continue to series?? They would obviously be another good fit for 9/1 (maybe even travel to UND in 2012 if they would agree to a multi year home and home)

I haven't heard one way or the other, but I would guess Lamar is a no and will be writing a check.
Regardless of the UND name issues, I would like to continue the series as well.

You can pretty much bet the UND series won't continue in football and basketball at least. Sioux aren't willing to enter into contracts with USD because of the Big Sky debacle.

Thanks jman...that's what I said in another post one a different topic and a UND fan said that was wrong...hmmmmm....maybe if UND thought with its head and not its heart....it might actually be able to go D-I...wait, they have already?

The series with UND will renew someday. There may be a few years taken off, and it may not be an every year game, but there is too much tradition and proximity (cost standpoint) to discontinue the game forever. IF UND stays in the Big Sky then this just becomes a scheduling issue. Open dates have to match up. Both schools are now at the point where they have conference games first to schedule, then one FBS game, then worry about the rest. If we're not in the same conference a lot of things have to go right before the game could be played on an annual basis. Yes, I know schools like Iowa, Iowa St play every year. It can be done. And from what we hear USD is willing to try and make it happen, the ball is in UNDs court.
I have a question for someone out there that might know the answer. While UND is figuring out the name issue are they still a non-counter for playoff purposes? Are there any issues for FCS teams to schedule them and have it hurt them from a playoff points standpoint? Or does that issue go away after the 5th year just like it does for USD? Does the name issue have any bearing here?

Name issue has no bearing on their "counter" status. Actually, we are both "counters" now.
