Denver is a team that you will likely beat if you play well and lose to them if you don't. I don't see a huge upside or downside with them. They are just kind of run of the mill but a general disappointment because they haven't had much of an upside this year. The Coyotes are probably the better team. Hopefully the Pioneers have mailed it in and the Yotes roll right over them but I doubt that will happen. Denver will probably play well but the Yotes will play a bit better.
Yotes win it 70-64

It was 22-5, they got it down to 26-21, and now 29-21. On the bright side, Denver can't possibly play any better than they are right now (12-16 on FGs, 5-7 on 3PTers). If they can keep it close in the first half they'll be just fine

Yotes down 15, Denver hitting everything and USD can't buy a bucket. To Denver's credit, it looks like the varsity playing the jv squad with way too many easy looks and point blank shots which is being set up by sensational outside shooting by Olson. That trash talkin Tyler Larson is going to need to heat up if the Yotes have a chance in this one. And Casey. And Bos. And Tre. You get the point. Not a good night so far...

36% shooting for the Yotes and Olson finally misses. Yotes score to make it 52-39...let's get a stop now and get back in this thing...

Yeesh, that was a bad game. Bos and Kasperbauer combined for a grand total of 9 points. This team operates on a switch, we're either on or off. Tonight we were off from the tip.

Hard to win when you shoot 33 per cent from field, and 13 per cent on threes.

66-48 Denver tells you all you need to know. I wasn't able to watch or listen to much of the game at all so it's hard for me to be too accurate with my comments. I picked a good game to not be able to follow closely. The #3 seed is pretty much out of the question. Now we should hope Oral Roberts does not finish 3rd. Whether the Yotes finish 4th or 5th is not that big of a deal. It's more important to be playing well going into the tourney. Getting a win against the Jacks would keep the momentum going. A loss and suddenly things don't look so good going in. What is it with the home court this season. It's just not a home court advantage at all.
Now it's important that the Coyote Women win tomorrow to setup what could be a very special day on Saturday. If the women beat IUPUI the team will be playing in the first leg of a double header on Saturday where they could win a conference title. That would be a good game to be at. After that it's the rivalry game that will be a fun time regardless of the teams records.
Lets face it this loss today isn't near as damaging as a loss by the women tomorrow night would be. Things are still very bright and the goal is for both teams to be a combined 3-0 at home to close out the regular season.
Here is the perfect storm for the remaining games
USD women beat IUPUI on Thursday USD women beat Western Illinois on Saturday and win the conference and #1 seed
NDSU men beat Oral Roberts on Thursday USD men beat SDSU on Saturday
NDSU wins the conference and #1 seed USD gets the #4 seed and is seeded in NDSU's half of the bracket.

Talk about a crazy season. These are the teams that South Dakota beat on the road but lost to at home.
Fort Wayne Oral Roberts Denver Omaha
Just insane as that is pretty much half the league.
If the Coyotes could have just matched their road wins with home wins in those games the Yotes would be 12-3 tied for first and playing for a conference title on Saturday. It is definately a glass half full half empty type of year.

Regardless of who we play on Sunday, March 8th, if we play like we did last night against Denver we won't have to worry about playing on the 9th. Considering that Denver's known to be a weak defensive team, we couldn't find the net from anywhere.

Long day at work, didn't get to see this one. Sounds like Coach Smith and staff had a long day at work also.
I don't think I'll bother looking for the replay.
