I agree with you guys, Hopefully Sparks is able to help us defensively on Forbes. Forbes is really quite agile for his size and his footwork is very polished. I think several of us were stating weeks ago that we felt good in the first round against really anyone...with the exception of the Dons. Looking back to the game in the dome, Forbes was albe to get such deep post position on us, when he catches it on the low block its goodnight Irene. I would expect we cycle our few bigs on him, bring occasional doubles and see our guards dig when he puts it on the floor. that should limit him to 20 and 10.....Also, we shot 3-19 on 3's that game and only went to the line 8 times while losing by 11.

I think you use the gameplan we had against SDSU in the final game of the season for the whole tournament. I think it will work against IPFW. Forbes is gonna get his no matter what against us just like Larson will. we dont have the size yet.......cant wait till next year. But if we can play tough perimeter defense like we did in the season finale and double down on the post occasionally that IMO would be the best game plan for IPFW and of course it worked once against the bunny wabbits it hopefully would work again if executed.
The final is too far away to even guess who would be in it if the Yotes made it but I feel like that gameplan would be our best shot against NDSU as well. I cant remember what approach we took in the Dome to beat the Bissssccczzzzon or however you spell their made up word they use. Can anyone remember?

A little off topic, but a friend of mine going to the tourney asked if they sell beer during the games? I unfortunately have not been able to attend in the past.

You know you've made it when people can get drunk inside the venue instead of just in the parking lot.

I'm with you on that cuz, Forbes is like 19-23 against USD, you've got to think their game plan is to get him 23 shots in this Tournament game. It will be interesting to see Coach Smith's plan, do you use Hunter,ERob,Sparks and their 15 fouls and go after him, or do you let him get his 35 and focus on the perimeter players? If Forbes is to get his 35 lets hope it is on 14-35 shooting instead of 14-17 shooting. He almost never missed against the Coyotes combined in both games. The Yotes will have to change it up on defense and see what works. Who would you rather have to worry about stopping Forbes or the combo of Kasperbauer, Larson and Bos. We will find out which task will be more difficult. I kinda of hope it turns into a helter skelter game with the crowd having alot of impact from the stands. I am just glad this game is not in IPFW's gym but instead in an environment that I think will be favorable to the Coyotes. I think the Yotes will bring a better contingent of fans this year. I am lucky enough to be able to attend every Coyote Summit tourney game other than the Womens game on Saturday.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7SP8XEBgj4This is the ORU Sports report previewing the Summit Tourney including an interview with Scott Sutton head coach Oral Roberts. He isn't disrespecting anyone but he is very happy not to have to face either South Dakota or South Dakota State until the finals. I don't blame him. He is hoping that he will get some of the fans from either South Dakota or SDSU cheering on his team if they face the others rival.

SDSU beat Western Illinois in a blowout from start to finish.
Denver is leading NDSU at half 27-23. Denver is ice cold from outside and is still leading at half. Olson is sucking tonight for the most part after ripping up the Coyotes in Vermillion. NDSU does not look good so far. Somewhat predictably this is a defensive oriented low scoring game. The Coyotes would have been in good shape had they played either of these teams the way they played in that first half. So far it sure looks like the Jacks are the significant favorites based on the way the games have gone so far. This is NDSU to a tee though. They always seem to be in close games.

NDSU wins it 61-50. The Pioneers were simply brutal in this game. They will absolutely terrible. They shot terribly, turned it over and fouled NDSU too much. The Bison were not really even challeged and it's hard to measure them based on Denver completely not showing up for this game. Why did they feel they had to play by far their best road game of the year in Vermillion. It cost the Coyotes the #3 seed. I feel right now that the 3 best teams in the tourney might just all be in the top bracket with SDSU, USD and IPFW. NDSU still has a chance to bounce back but they are not playing very good basketball right now and will have to step their game way up to have a chance in the tourney. USD would have been in a great position had they been at that #3 seed.
Denver ends a very dissapointing season. How could this team possibly have been picked to finish second in the league. The experts picked Denver at a higher percentage chance to win this tournament than they gave USD. That is crazy. The experts are on pot. Denver was over rated by the media all year and their game on the court could never match the hype.
The power is in the Dakota's in both mens and womens basketball. SDSU, USD and NDSU should all be in the media pre season top 4 next year in that poll. Denver should be picked 7th where they belong. I know I am destroying the Pioneers in this post but they deserve to be destroyed.

May The Diamond of the Dakotas shine very brightly. We're not talking about Fargo here.

NDSU and SDSU are tied at half at 23 all. NDSU is really clamping down on defense in this game and SDSU is not making their shots. The tempo is perfect for what NDSU would want. It's physical and ugly just like the Bison like it. Too bad the Jacks couldn't play this way against the Yotes. Recruiting will be important so the Coyotes are able to play more effective defense like NDSU and SDSU are tonight. The Coyotes aren't far away and are certainly closer than a year ago. I am already chomping at the bit for next season. Can we just skip football season and get right to basketball next year.

57-56 Bison win it, SDSU missed the winning shot at the buzzer. The Bison nearly blew a late 8 point lead but hang on. I know it hurts a little having to lose to SDSU on both the mens and womens side this year but this takes a sliver of that sting away.
