Don't know why but I tried going over there yesterday and the site is down. Tried again today and still nothing. Does anybody know, do they shut the site down during planting season? I guess that loss to NDSU at the Summit Tournament had more far reaching effects than I thought.

It looks like something out of the 90s. Maybe the dial up modem used to host the site was sputtering. It was always a drag when someone picked up the phone when you were trying to use the internet.

Filberts home board www.sdsufans.commay have been down but if you go directly to the message board you should get in. The direct link is www.sdsufans.com/board

The post by TAB (a Bison fan) I thought summed it up pretty well:
"This is funny. You act like you guys haven enjoyed tremendous success. Deny it all you want, but the decision to offer on a case by case basis was done out of fear. You guys were going to lose recruits and your coaches got scared. Offering case by case basis is the correct way to do it? Sure. Yeah, I'm buying that.
If somebody tells me you guys just don't have the cash at the moment because of the renovated stadium and that they want to do it and see the need but just can't but will as soon as the money is free...yeah, I'd buy that. But to make it look intentional and say going slow and correctly...that is just plain silly. Silly I tell you! As for the comments above yours it was stated how Jacks do things quietly while the Coyotes and Bison pound their chests...it is because you got nothing to pound your chest about...you have to sit there quietly as your institution wasn't ready. You bet those that have it are going to use it to their advantage."

They keep referring to themselves as fiscally responsible. Sell says it in the article; the (uninformed) folks on their board say it. Their new stadium is Exhibit A of not being fiscally responsible. They are building it to be larger than NDSU, but they might sell it out once a year and a TON of those folks will be from Fargo (a similar comment they make about USD). They plan to pay for it with ticket sales - sure. They are spending principal dollars from their foundation. But, but, but, when they get invited to the WAC they need a seating capacity that big! No, you need an average attendance of 15,000 for FBS. 2014 avg for SDSU - 10,934. USD - 8,409. NDSU - 18,571. fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_records/Attendance/2014.pdffs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_records/Attendance/2013.pdfYou want to talk fiscal responsibility? You only need to look one place - the difference in the way the foundations operate. USD will not spend principal dollars. Period. The wide gap in the size of the foundations says it all. But keep claiming USD doesn't have the money for FCOA and whatever else. For the econ majors, I realize you probably can't comprehend finance. Principal is the actual dollars that are donated. Interest is the money earned from those dollars in the market. Oh no...I opened a can of worms. The market is...well, just think of it as the place where people buy your grain and cattle... The facts are this: USD is getting funding from students - Yes. Those funds are earmarked for NEW staff salaries and increases over the next three years. No funds are being "shifted" from anywhere - that doesn't work, if you understand math, or accounting. I guess the College does have econ majors though - that is basically a business school. USD still has to maintain the current budget - you can't "shift" funds that are already set to be spent. The only way to "shift" funds is to cut something OR to not pay/hire the staff in the manner they have pledged. Well, I have seen Nielson's salary. I have seen the increase in staff this year; the planned hires for next year; the hires for the year after that. Where is the shift??? It is like talking to petulant children. Money spent is money spent. If a line item goes down, THEN you can cry foul. News flash - it isn't going to happen. Do they teach accounting in the econ class? Ag-Business just tells you to hire a cheap tax guy, buy a ton of equipment at the end of the year, accelerate the depreciation and then bitch to the government for a subsidy. I would guess you have heard the term 179 before... Donations are up and the University is supporting the move. ONWARD is doing well, because we have AMAZING people working on it. Our foundation staff is second to none. How is this so hard to comprehend for SDSU? Further, the Howling Pack is increasing by over 10% per year. I hope ANY member of this board that is a USD supporter will give to the Howling Pack, even if it is just a little bit. $100 per year is all it takes - pay it monthly if you have to. This is how the big boys play. There is no magic ticket sales money or athletics funding fairy. As an example, the MINIMUM donation to buy tickets at Nebraska this year is $150/seat for nose bleeds and obstructed view - anything worth a damn is $500-2500/seat. GET ON BOARD!

What is this? www.argusleader.com/story/sports/2016/02/05/sdsu-phasing-cost-attendance-preparing-multi-year-contracts/79861706/I guess they don't clamber for TV and now Zimmer to publish articles and blogs ALL THE TIME to talk about their wins, their success, their new facilities... good grief. It is called PR. EVERYBODY DOES IT. Folks there still want to lynch Zimmer because he isn't TV. Edit: don't they have a journalism school? PR means public relations, just in case that acronym is challenging to comprehend, State fans.

Can we start throwing false rumors about how they're funding it?

Can we start throwing false rumors about how they're funding it? We all know it's being directly funded by their activity fees. That's the only way to get funds for something related to athletics.

Shutting down the Equestrian team. Horse sale proceeds to pay for FCOA. Also heard they were planning on holding a meat raffle.
It's grass roots activities like that meat raffle that makes me question whether we will ever catch up to them. Maybe someday.

I heard Maci Miller is getting $14,000.00 (Determined by SDSU's made up FAFSA number) a semester and the rest of the women's team is getting less than $800. Since I mentioned the FAFAS number I feel like the news outlets should be all over State for cooking the books on that FAFSA number. Now that is fiscal irresponsibility. I mean incompetence. How can you be that wrong on that number and claim to have an entrepreneur degree.
Another point overlooked is SDSU is basing these revenue numbers on current and future increased attendance when this is the best 4 years in the history of their football program. What happens when they go back to missing the playoffs and have a losing record. Risky move leveraging the new machine shed and stadium on ticket sales at record highs.

So much butthurt in this thread. Goodness That this is all you can muster reflects the ground you have to stand on. Relentless negativity from your fans thrown at USD for being on the leading edge of offering COA and getting multi-year contracts in place. Forgive us for having a good laugh at the comments of state fans after the school finally tagged along by offering a POS COA plan and public comments from your coaches agreeing multi-year contracts would help them in hiring assistants.
