Nice to hear preliminary news of good things about these two. Both of them are definately exciting recruits. This year I believe the fortunes of the Coyotes may be determined based on how they both do this year as freshman. Both will be needed. Can't wait for basketball season in general.

Just had my chance to listen to the teleconference from earlier today. Coach Smith made the remark that on Monday they started practice with 17 guys but ended with 10 due to guys being hurt. If we can't keep our guys healthy we will be in for a difficult season as we just don't have many scholarship guys able to play this year. By my count we have 9 scholarship players who are able to play this year and that includes two true freshmen. I imagine there's no way Jech or Hagedorn redshirt because of this and that we will also see some of the walk-ons finding minutes.
Going to have to play a different style of basketball too I should think with the team suddenly stacked with big men and no incoming guards to replace Bos and Larson. I think Craig Smith is an incredible coach but we are still a year away from taking the next step forward. I expect a regular season not unlike last year and hold out hope for a run in Sioux Falls at the end (and some kind of postseason tournament too!). Can't wait for basketball season though. Definitely my favorite sport to watch.

Be forewarned, this is a rambling post:
From everything I have read/heard, if he doesn't redshirt, I get the impression that we will see a lot of freshman walk-on Tyler Borchers. We may have really lucked out there.
The injury thing is concerning, but at least two of those were injuries that existed prior to the beginning of the season - Flack and Spark. Where the others are coming from, I have no idea. I haven't listened to the interview, did he actually say that the injuries were the sole reason for the bump from 17 to 10, or was he bootstrapping the ineligible transfers in there? 2+3 gets us from 17 to 12 quickly. This is just me being hopeful, however.
I think we are going to be OK in the scoring department. We are just going to have to find a different way to do it.
We know what to expect from CK. Hopefully he has worked hard to get better at finding his own shot. There is no doubt that having a better inside presence will free up CK from the arch.
If Burnette can capitalize on the way he played at the end of the season, I think we will have an all conference player. It was pretty striking how much better we were as a team when Tre had a solid game. Key examples being the Creighton game (I realize this was an early one) and the State game during the regular season.
"Jech can score in a lot of different ways." Those words from Smith were music to my ears. It will be great to have a big man that can score.
Smith has said Hagedorn is skilled and versatile, which is something we haven't really had from a 6'8" guy. This should help stretch the court and bridge the gap if Flack can't come back ready to play at full speed.
I have heard from people that have watched practice that Shy is a really good player and will contribute early.
From the other bigs, when healthy, I thought that Spark showed great improvement throughout the year. At this point we pretty much know what to expect from ERob - hopefully he has continued to put on good weight to bang around down low.
I really hope DJ Davis can step up and capitalize on his physical skills. The guy just looks like a basketball player, but he never seems to show it on the court. I have no idea what, if anything, to expect from Zach Dickerson or Logan Power. Hopefully at least one can be a solid contributor.
I'd predict a starting lineup like this:
1-Norris 2-CK 3-Burnette 4-Flack or ERob 5-Spark or Jech
Bench (in order):
Shy ERob (if Flack is healthy) Jech (if Spark is healthy) Davis
Then some combination of Hagedorn (if no RS), ZD, Power, Borchers (if no RS), Mayot.
If Flack and Spark aren't healthy, that really makes the offense look pretty bleak. Norris is a reliable ball handler and passer, but he has never been a real scoring threat. CK needs help getting an open shot. We need Davis to step up and for Shy to be ready to score if we want to be able to create any sort of reliable offense. I just don't have a lot of faith in our bigs being ready to score 15 ppg out of the shoot.

Lots of great points CE. I agree with pretty much everything, even rotation wise. I think Tre is going to have a huge year and really fill up the stat sheet all around. The guy defended 1-5 for us last year, cannot overstate how big is impact is on that end of the floor.
I think the storylines this season are A. can Flack stay healthy and B. How much this team improves as the season goes. There will defeinitely be some growing pains early on with freshmen and Shy getting acclimated. Its really anyones guess where scoring will come from, but we should be much more balanced in that department rather than relying one 1 or 2 guys ever game. I wouldnt expect anyone to average much more than 11 or 12 points a game. The wild card on this team, in my mind, is Jech. I think if hes good enough to be a starter by seasons end, the yotes could be a tough out come tourney time.

Waiver denied. I can't say I'm surprised, wouldn't think he had much of a case.
