Without Bradley in the first half, the Coyotes would be in a world of hurt right now. Nice to be able to go into halftime with a lead when they played pretty uninspired most of the first half. Good to see you post in the basketball thread Charlie. Keep posting with us basketball fans in the future as well.

Quite honestly for three-fourths of this half the Coyotes sucked in this game. Not much energy, not good offense and allowing very easy shots for the Illini. Then the switch was turned towards the end of the half. Illinois led by 12 at one point and the Yotes turned up the heat and suddenly the Yotes lead by 2 with a layup buzzer beater. I feel as if Illinois played better but the Yotes are obviously hanging around. Other than a couple of interior players for Illinois these teams are fairly even talent wise and I would say the Coyotes are better in the back court. Sometimes you only need to be the better team for a few minutes. That's the beauty (or downfall) of sports, depending on which end your team is on at the end!

Talk about flipping a switch. Up by 11 points now after 10-1 run over first 2:30 of the 2nd half.

The run has kind of ended now. Illinois back within 6, 50-44 with 4:45 left in the 3rd quarter. Plenty of work yet to be done.

Coyotes win, Coyotes win 85-76 good girls.
What a turnaround from most of the first half. The Yotes decided instead of just playing flat and conceding defeat instead they took over State Farm Court and made it theirs. Good job Lady Yotes. Good start to the night.

Illinois was 7-2 coming into the game but has been out scored in the 4th quarter this season. Thankfully tonight the Yotes were able to build a large lead and then hang on and survive the fierce run by the Illini at the end. With Duffy and Tromboli out, it's nice that other girls can step up and score which is what we need heading into conference play. Plus a win against a power 5 conference team is always a plus. Now off to watch the USD men play. Looks like they are getting blasted early but hope they can turn it around like the women.

Kyley Simmons, starting guard for Illinois, from Council Bluffs. Austin Simmons, USD football quarterback, from Council Bluffs and they both graduated from the same high school. Siblings? Cousins? Coincidence?
