Oral Roberts beat IUPUI tonight so we remain even with them (but holding the tiebreaker) and Western Illinois beat Denver. I welcome WIU's win over Denver as it brings us to within a game of Denver and 6th place in the standings.

At this point in time Denver owns the tie breaker even if the Coyotes defeat the Pioneers later at home. Denver has a higher up win in the standings then USD does. They have defeated Omaha for sure and I believe also IUPUI. USD's best win is against NDSU so far. If the Coyotes can squeek one out vs SDSU than that tie breaker could swing in favor of the Coyotes. More than likely the Yotes will have to finish ahead of Denver to win the 6th spot but Denver has three straight road games at IPFW, at ORU and at USD before finishing home vs NDSU. Assuming the Coyotes lose at SDSU I believe they can have a good chance to take the 6th spot if they can sweep the final 3 games vs Denver, at IUPUI and at Western Illinois. 2 of those are doable but the IUPUI game in the jungle could be the trouble spot.

Nope their offensive linemen are in better shape. I really like Werner. I told a friend that I would like to see Borchers become our Werner. His footwork is ridiculous. 2-3 times where any other big in our league would have been stuck on the baseline or in a double team, but he managed to get a shot up or get fouled. On the radio show after the game, Smith said the Yotes have had 5 of their best practices of the season in the last week. When departures or odd things happen mid season like this, it can ultimately bring a team together or bring a new dynamic, hopefully that is what we are seeing. DJ Davis was so good last night. His game keeps growing offensively, and he is thee man on defense. What he did to Jacobsen last night was huge. If he can keep developing into a consistent 3 point shooter he will be an all summit caliber player yet. Last thing, I think Tre Norris is coming into his own. Now that he knows he is "the guy" as our true point guard, he has a more defined role, and he knows what Smith needs from him. 2 solid games in a row for him. If he just makes the easy play every time instead of trying to be a little flashy, we can be dangerous yet.

What is up with the lack of attendance. The place was empty and next to the SDSU game this is as marquee of a match up that can be expected. The SDSU women's game had a larger attendance.

Great team win again Yotes and fantastic FT shooting as well as very good D!!! Go Yotes!!! That's what stood out to me. Huge benefit moving to more of an inside game with Flack compared to guard play with Burnette and McClelland. Flack, Hagedorn, and Jech can all shoot free throws and picking up 10 points more a game from players who can make free throws turns a liability into a strength and it appears a lot more wins. Flack is just a stud.

Well the Weather definitely was not spectacular. With that being said, the crowd wasnt much different than any of the other wednesday or thursday games I have been at.

Anyone else catch what Flack said in his post game interview with Joe. He said he thinks the Coyotes are starting to play better because they are finally starting to share the ball on offense. Maybe this is a little shot at Shy? I agree Flack 100%. It is amazing how many open look the Coyotes are getting the last few games because the person driving looks to kick to the open guy. Not only that but once the Coyotes start to move the ball as a team, lanes are opening up towards the rim.

One thing about Shy is that he is a player who likes to penetrate and draw fouls. He was not a good FT shooter at around a 51% clip. Missing free throws is how a team loses close games down the stretch of a game. Hopefully the Yotes can close the season strong and make some noise in the tourney.

It is great to have a guy that can drive, draw the foul and then convert from the line. However, if you miss the front end of 1-and-1 shots or go 0-2, then you have effectively created a turnover.

I think he was just speaking from an observational standpoint. There were still times down the stretch where the ball was sticky and that's when NDSU mounted a little comeback but a couple of huge buckets down the stretch sealed it

I think it was more so a comment on how the yotes will play going forward. Trying to play inside out with more movement on offense with less 1 on 1 action. How many times per possession could you hear smith yelling "move" Thursday? Maybe he does every game, but it was just very noticeable Thursday.
