I was surprised even with the apparent dumpster fire she took over that she wasn't able to produce something a little bit better than she did. Nebraska was downright terrible this year. Maybe the grass isn't always greener. Obviously she deserves a little bit more time to fully implement her recruiting and coaching but not the start I expected for sure. She'll right the ship down there and be just fine. It's a culture that she brings down to Lincoln that the team and fans need to buy into. She will be just fine.

Huge blow to Coach Williams and the Huskers WBB. Will make it even tougher to rebuild. Sucks for her. Despite her obvious talent, I think there has been questions about her gym work ethic and attitude. When top guard, Romeo, transferred to Washington, Shepard was outspoken in her criticism of Romeo. Also, Romeo was outspoken about spoiled lazy players on the team pushing coach Yori out. Seems as though improving the locker-room culture at Nebraska is going to be more of a two-year process. Just speculation on my part, of course. Losing a player the caliber of Shepard will hurt either way.

Considering the rumors behind Shepard's work ethic/attitude, maybe Amy thought it be best for her to leave than be a hindrance in the locker room. I feel bad for Amy, though, but I think she understood what she was going into, hence declining the original offer to coach there in the first place.

She turned down the job initially?

Not to dig up old stuff here but I remember watching some of the post game press conferences during theWNIT run and thinking she was speaking in 3rd person a lot. Then when they had the celebration pc the Monday after title game I said to my wife after that it felt like she was saying goodbye. A day later Yori was out. So I have little doubt something was brewing during that title run. Either way, I hope she turns Nebraska into a women's powerhouse.

She did. Their initial offer wasn't a lot more than she was making at USD. She turned it down, in essence saying no to a low ball offer, and then signed when they upped the ante. She was very content at USD.
Bigger isn't always better. I wish her the best, but extremely grateful we have Dawn.

Again, I could very well be wrong, though.

I noticed that same things when she spoke towards the end of the WNIT run. She didn't put herself in the conversation regarding the future. Then the way her emotion poured out in the post WNIT celebration. I think she knew or had a good feeling that she might not be back. If she does one thing in all of this I hope it is to convince Nebraska to sign a home and home deal with the Coyotes. At this point we would likely sweep it so hopefully it happens soon. She would have to build Nebraska pretty high before they would come into the SCSC and be a significant favorite.

This would be the exact reason the Nebraska woman will not have anything to do with us.

Now that they fired Shawn Eichorst as they AD in Lincoln, there will likely be even more pressure on all of the coaches to create winning programs. The whole place is pretty unstable as it relates to their athletic programs right now.

So true, but you still can't blame her for taking what is probably her dream job and at the same time cashing in. That is family tree changing money for her and that entire staff. If she were to be let go by them, every mid-major in this region would be lining up for her.

I don't care if there's going to be a new AD, Amy has only been there one season and can't be on the hot seat yet.

Looks like Amy and the Huskers might be turning a corner.
Just beat Kansas and Duke last week in consecutive games. Both of those teams have RPIs in the 50's, so not earth-shattering, but encouraging nonetheless....
I'll always root for her to be successful.
***edit: oops! I guess it was Drake, not Duke. Well, Kansas was a good win anyway.....

I will also cheer for Amy as well. I hated to see her go more so than any other coach that left for a higher profile job. I hope eventually we will get a home and home with them. USD and Amy will always have a warm spot for each other.
