I like her success at Grand Valley State and she was at Michigan. Her last 4 years have been solid but not spectacular. 71-54 is her overall record at Northern Kentucky and her teams have gotten to the WBI but haven't fared very well in the tournament mostly losing in the first round and making it to the second round once. This is a tournament that the Coyotes would have waltzed their way through this year and would have been a significant favorite in pretty much every game under Amy Williams. It sounds like she would meet all the criteria of a positive person as it relates to her players on and off the court but I am not as thrilled about the recent record. I like her time at Grand Valley but that is getting to be quite awhile ago. It seems like she came in and did a respectable job right away at NKU but never really upped the program much as she progressed through the past 4 years. She is not trending upward very much if at all and that is my biggest concern. Considering USD's upper trajectory, new arena, increased fan support I think USD could do better but what do I know. Weren't you the one earlier in this thread insisting that our next coach should have both head coaching experience and D-1 experience? Now its a good coach regardless of division or conference. How about we keep an open mind and trust DH? I have definitely said that I would favor a coach with successful head coaching experience. That is the single biggest quality that I value. Head coaching experience that has a record of excellence as a head coach. I would rather have a head coach that has won national title(s) at a NAIA or D2 level than a coach that has had D1 experience if they don't have a history of being a very good head coach. That is especially true if the D1 assistant experience is at an average or below program. Now if we are talking about a head coach at a D1 level that has success similar to Aaron Johnston that would be ideal but I doubt many of those are available or would come to USD. The coach from Northern Kentucky checks many of those boxes but the last 4 years is closer to the average than anything else. USD should get well above average but maybe that is just too lofty of expectations. And this
