Thanks for finding the article! Here are some quotes from it about her knee injury this season:
Yikes. I don't know a lot about how this kind of injury can affect a girl's game in BB, or what the risk of re-injury is. Sounds like Coach P is taking a risk, but maybe got a steal of a player because of it?

On her recruitment:
This speaks well of Dawn's recruiting ability, as well as the new facilities helping to sell the program.
Also, if she is looking at a graduate program here, that could mean an additional year of elligibility if she redshirts. We have seen the benefits of keeping a seasoned senior around for an extra season!

On her game:
Her height might be an exaggeration here, but she seems like the type of guard Williams would have liked as well. I don't know what kind of offense Coach P will run, but a smart, ball-sharing guard is always a good thing, IMO.

Good to see they are on the trail! So far our two verbal commits are from Minnesota and Illinois. When you add them to this map, the geographic strategy is pretty clear. I would venture to guess that many of these offers are based on years of cultivating relationships with high school and AAU coaches. Her past coaching locations were in Kentucky, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc, so this shouldn't be a surprise that her first class would come from that region. I hope that in the future we will see a shift to recruiting SD and NE a little more, but it takes time to establish those coaching relationships. We have to go head-to-head with State and win those recruiting battles. Local girls help build the fan base, and God knows we have talented athletes around here.

In Men's basketball and football I like to see recruiting all over the nation because I feel the need is there especially in football where the Coyotes need to establish their program before winning many recruiting battles in this region. In Women's basketball the talent in the upper midwest is just fine compared to the rest of the nation and with the rising of the program it's not as tough of a battle to win the recruiting battles. Not that I mind national recruiting at all but it's not quite as important in this sport.

Interesting. The Jacks WBB twitter site also mentions where their staff are recruiting this week. Mentions Ames, Chicago, Sioux Falls, Nashville, Cincinatti, Louisville and Lexington.
Looking at our map above puts us in most of the same cities. Coincidence? Maybe we are going head-to-head for the same recruits after all!

The one in Ames, for example, has something like 100 college coaches in attendance....couple from the Summit League. That's usually how recruiting works, coaches typically end up in the same locations.
