I jumped on and saw a bunch of people on the chat. It was working a little after 2 today.

Sunday Argus Leader had the Coyote men as the headline this morning. The Argus had Mick Garry on the high school wrestling circuit as well. Since many people do not read the Argus, it is a day to check it out.

I think Matt Zimmer is picking the Coyotes to win the tourney as well.

I think Matt Zimmer is picking the Coyotes to win the tourney as well. It makes a Jackrabbit fan worry about Zimmer's mental health. A week of counseling should help him back from the dark side.

Didn't Mick put some of the mess around the post-SDSU game to rest in the chat this past week? A group in Des Moines lays out the paper - not Mick or Zimmer. So it looked like the game story was the least important story based on layout and headlines, but the people in Des Moines wouldn't know that.

USD fans don't buy and read the Argus, so the Argus doesn't put much effort into covering USD. The Argus doesn't put much effort into covering USD, so the USD fans don't buy and read the Argus. It's a cycle that neither party is going to attempt to break.
I grew up in Vermillion. It always seemed the Argus and the TV stations really didn't cover Vermillion as a whole. The SC journal and SC tv stations always had more of a presence.

Pretty sure we can put the Argus Leader conspiracy theories to bed. Practically the whole damn sports section was dedicated to USD. The front page of the sports is 80% USD - that is with Sioux Falls currently playing host to the NCAA D2 Elite Eight! In the next section the whole side column is dedicated to the awards won by Craig and Mooney. In addition they have the announcement about Flack in the Dunk contest. Then there is a section dedicated to USD WBB receiving an NCAA Free Throw Award.
Lastly the main headline is dedicated to USD and Coach Smith staying.
The whining and conspiracy theories need to die. It justifies arguments from State fans - which I hate doing. We need to be the better teams and the better fan base. Period. Lead by example and bring your friends along. Start a movement.

It didn't take long this year for the first Coyotes chat to be skipped this year. Of course that didn't happen to another certain school.

Mick was just asked what his MVFC power rankings (top 5) were after week 6
NDSU USD SDSU Illinois State Youngstown
Another subtle jab at the Coyotes. Youngstown 5th and Western Illinois not ranked. Of course both USD opponents so if they lose to USD they must not be worthy. He has the Jacks as high as they can possibly be. We have a Jack lover as our beat writer.
Here is my power rankings
NDSU - if it wasn't for the blowouts USD would have this spot. USD - maybe best overall resume in the country. Western Illinois - they currently have the best resume of the 1 loss teams Youngstown SDSU - just haven't been that impressive Illinois State - the loss at N Ari hurts a lot UNI SIU ISUb Missouri State

That really is terrible considering the decisive results we have seen. NDSU-USD as top 2 is unquestionable at this point, the rest is garbage. SDSU got dominated by Youngstown and Illinois State just got embarrassed at Northern Arizona. Youngstown and WIU's only losses were by less than a TD to an undefeated USD team, and they have been very impressive in their wins. SDSU and Illinois State have done little to impress this year.
The Illinois situation is perhaps most glaring, given their common opponent of Northern Arizona. Both Illinois State and Western Illinois played in Flagstaff. WIU won by 18, Illinois State lost by 21. WIU has unquestionably looked better than Illinois State so far this year.
It would be one thing if he was predicting finishing order, but that is apparently how he sees everyone right now. I just can't get behind Mick. You have to enjoy a sportswriter laying things out as they see it, but his view here is ignorant of reality - and thus, as valuable as a sunshine pumper. I'll continue getting my coverage anywhere but the Argus.

I'd rate the MVFC as follows:
1. NDSU - receive the benefit of the doubt for their overall body of work in the past as well as present 2. Yotes - best resume from this season 3. Youngstown - lost on tough one on the road. Was somewhat impressive in their other loss to Pitt 4. Western - lost a tough one at home is the difference between them and the Penquins 5. SDSU - tough road loss, but it really was kind of a beatdown. Potential is there, but the teams above are good too. 6. ISUr - good defense, not so good offense. Could be tough especially outside in bad weather 7. UNI - average on offense and defense and have the potential to improve 8. Southern - solid offense, not so solid defense, can be dangerous in any given game 9. ISUb - better than their record even with last week's debacle. Will they rise up and bite someone in the ass? 10. Mo State - never really understood why they always struggle
Lot of games left among the top teams so this could obviously change, sometimes dramatically, on a weekly basis. This is going to be one fun ride!
