I've been observing the fan board for the Jacks and apparently there have been some nazi like rules come down from the administration that will make tailgating for their fans about as much fun as painting the garage. I'm not sure what they are, but some fans of SDSU that like to participate in tailgating festivities have been mandated strict rules as to what or what not can take place. Lol
They build a $65M stadium, and now do this. Something must have happened last year with behavioral issues, and now the gauntlet is being dropped. That's one thing I noticed 2 years ago when we played there, there were both police and campus cops patrolling the whole thing in a very bizarre and strange way. So glad we have what we do.

Soooo glad as well. We have a great tailgating atmosphere at USD, the atmosphere is so laid back and festive. The only time Campus Security approaches you is to ask if you are having a good time. I can't say enough about the good job they do by just being present but not intrusive. I've received compliments from Bison, Griz, and many other visiting fans about how much fun tailgating is at USD, that says a lot in my book. Can't wait for the NDSU game as those are some good people to tailgate with.
With some of the emails I've seen floating around it looks like this season of football festivities is going to be even better.

Just checked over at the Bunny Board, you weren't kidding, 16 page thread about tailgating. My overall take after reading a couple pages, we must have better behaved students. Of course USD students have their own area and they do what they want there, we do what we want where we are, and those students that walk through the reserved lots are treated well and welcomed.

I think the main problem is the students like to get drunk and throw full beers. I know it was a problem last year and can remember going to Hobo Days when I was in school during the mid 00's and someone threw a full beer and smashed a window of a car so it is nothing new. I don't think that impresses the other tailgaters who have family/kids.

Really reinforces my take on their student body. My one trip to a football game there in 2014 featured the students hitting Joe Glenn in the face with a snowball, among a plethora of other trashy behavior.

After reading some of it I did see one comment that seemed like a good idea for USD to implement.
In the main tailgating lot in front of the dome we should make a rule where no cars are allowed in 1.5 hours before game time. It would prevent people from buying 6 prime spots simply to pull up 10 minutes before the game and walk in.
Help create a better atmosphere of only people really wanting to tailgate getting those areas.

Let's be honest, USD students like to get drunk too. Matter of fact, I would bet USD students could show those State students a little something about how to party, but I've never seen the USD students act like what they are describing. Not saying it has never happened, just that we don't seem to have those issues at USD. The student tailgate does get pretty crazy at times too, there is video proof of that out there if you want to google it, but more of in a party/good time way, not in a destruction of property way.
I like the idea of closing the lot to vehicle traffic about 1.5 hours before the game. I'd also like to see more vehicles allowed per space, or more spots sold of smaller spaces.

I once saw a guy chug a beer out a prosthetic leg at the USD tailgate a year or two ago. I thought it was hilarious.

I'm only a couple years removed from being an undergraduate student. From my experience there are plenty of people getting belligerently drunk, but I don't recall any property damage or even a broken bottle to speak of. Lots of people having a good time and no one crossing the line.
