You mean he applied for the only school in the state that has a med school to continue his road to becoming a doctor? WOW! Almost fell over with that revelation. What a shock! Apparently a BS from State is more than good enough to get into the USeD med school. Wouldn't think that was possible with how lowly our education is here. When a kid who is not from SD (Zenner) decides to apply to the rival school he played football at to further his education compared to a school in the state he is from or elsewhere, Yes it says a lot.
When you get tired of your shitty dead end job Humper76 you should come get a real degree too.
It doesn't say anything besides it was likely much cheaper than the other options. What's it like knowing your academics are essentially the same and we beat your asses in most everything, even the one sport you guys aren't awful at? Btw checked out your claim of being "the number one school for family physicians" and no you are not. Fun to say I'm sure. But you aren't. Any more phony dreams you need popped while I'm here?

Pepole trying to become medical doctors tend to go with the best school that will have them. It would be quite inept to choose a school that saves you a few bucks and forego the lost potential earnings.

You claim academics are the same. Certainly not true if anyone wishing to earn an advanced degree has to leave Brookings. You can try to blur the differences by focusing strictly on undergrad, but the graduate programs at USD far outshine anything available at SDSU.

Ummm... that was extremely difficult to watch. And the point of making that video was...? That video getting out may actually help the Yotes in recruiting. What high school kid is gonna watch that and think, "OMG! I can't wait to get up there and do that with the football team!" So right you are. Why is a hick country song supposed to act as motivation. If I were a recruit that video would definitely eliminate any chance I would have had to go to State. Everything is in place perfectly with that video for your typical midwest farm kid but they really should have put cows in there somewhere.

But you keep convincing yourself that a grad program that says medical or law makes you a superior being compared to others. Really the best metric here is student success. USD pumps out far more national scholars, and has an endowment that is more than double SDSU's (despite lower enrollment) for very good reason. Sure there are plenty of different program offerings between the schools, but the degrees at USD are simply more valuable, more advanced, and held in higher regard.

Re: the USD School of Medicine
The USD Sanford School of Medicine is often confused with the Stanford School of Medicine (you know, the west coast Ivy-league-type of University). I have experienced this (really).
1) USD is actually more difficult to get in: Acceptance rate = 1.4% for USD vs 12.8% for Stanford; 2) USD students who are admitted have higher MCAT scores: 37 vs 29 3) USD med students have a higher median GPA: 3.85 vs 3.79
Stanford is probably among the top 5 medical schools in the country but my point is that USD is a pretty top quality institution in its own right - or should I state the likes of what State College can never hope for?
As for Family Medicine, it appears that if you look at a single year of data, USD is not producing as high a percentage of Family Physicians as they did years before. I am unsure why but perhaps the emphasis the Sanford system places on research and the growing demand for specialists in larger cities plays a role. Maybe the demand for Family Physicians in rural areas has diminished. Notwithstanding, the AAFP has repeatedly recognized USD for its contributions to the family physician workforce and made its Top Ten rankings numerous times.
I'm sure your blood pressure is up after reading this Thumper. Better go see a doctor and get that treated....

In fact, if you read my posts, at no point have I called any part of usd education bad. All I've said is it's stupid to pretend usd is some sort of unknown Harvard and SDSU is the equivalent of a juco education. Also, the fact that you have to try to manufacture some sort of education smack on your sports fan board pretty much says it all. As for your stats, I didn't find any rankings that seemed to back those up, but I didn't dig that hard, cause I don't really care I'm not looking to get into med school.

Thumper: I didn't bring up the medical school. Stating the obvious, you did in two separate posts before I felt the need to respond.
I'd be happy to further your knowledge of medical education but I do agree this is a sports fan board and will therefore cease. Not that the med school needed me to defend them anyway.
