Misspelled both her first and last name. Yeah, the interview isn't that revealing, either. I think we are all just a little information-starved with this basketball program right now. We don't have to know everything going on behind the scenes, but.... throw us a bone with something to discuss a little, right?

Awesome! Good to finally hear from Hegedorn. Sounds like he is all in, along with all the returning starters (sans Mooney).

Quotes from the article:
Sounds like the players are somewhat bought-in already. That's a good start.

Awesome! Good to finally hear from Hegedorn. Sounds like he is all in, along with all the returning starters (sans Mooney). If this is true we can put to bed the rumor about Hagedorn going to Utah St. For a while it wasn't looking good for Craig. He was getting a couple of our recruits, he was on Mooney's short list, and there were rumors of Hagedorn transferring there. But in the end it looks like the only players he got were two recruits that the new staff no longer wanted. Obviously nobody can blame Smith for taking those guys at Utah St, in fact he probably did Lee a favor since Lee didn't want them anyway. I know we aren't out of the woods yet, but it sure is looking like we have a good chance of having everyone (besides Mooney and the seniors) back. It will be interesting to see who really steps up and picks up the scoring load. I see Armstrong as a guy that can pick up some of that slack. I also feel like we can get more out of Hags. Maybe the numbers would show me that I'm wrong, but I thought he sure looked better in the preconference schedule.

I agree with most of that, except that Smith is still recruiting Sam Greisel, so there's that.

I’m not a basketball guru but rather a novice that loves the game, but to a set of amateur eyes I always felt like Hags got left out because everything ran through Mooney. Maybe justified, I dont know, but now maybe Hags can become more of an offensive precense with Mooney out. Triston, Pete, Hags can all score. Trey inside. I like our team. You never know what the players thought of Mooney somewhat dominating shots/possession time. They might feel vindicated, I really don’t know.

We will be fine without Mooney. Sometimes too much stock is put in one person. If we return our core minus mooney I strongly expect that we will compete for a summit league championship. Won’t be easy be we should be preseason #2.

kwsn.com/podcasts/sports-talk-with-kwsn/5093/new-usd-mens-basketball-assistant-brad-davidson/KWSN interviews new Coyote Assistant Brad Davidson... You've been to the NCAA Tournament. That's where USD needs to go next, but why the move down to Vermillion from a school that's going to be peers with you in the Summit League soon?"I guess that's a good question. [...] they've been a really good team the last couple years, and the facilities are amazing. So that was one part of it. The other part was Todd Lee. A lot of people I know back in Australia have either worked with him on former players, or have played for him. When the job came up and we started talking, I connected with him really quickly. I thought it was something I'd like to do, and continue the adventure of being an Australian over here in the college basketball world."

More from Brad Davidson:
Dive Deeper into Todd Lee, and what attracts you to work for him.
"I think we have a similar appreciation for mid-major basketball. [...] My role in Australia, 'National Shooting Coach' was the title, but it was skill and player development... We've got about 60 Australian males in Division 1 Basketball, and the best ones were the guys I was working with every day. So we both have that affinity for trying to make the kids better, and developing those relationships, and getting them to reach their goals. So that was a big part of what attracted me to him.
The other thing is the success he's had. He's won wherever he's been, and helped bring programs forward from where they've been. So the last coaching staff did a great job here, and we need one more step, to get where we want to go."

More:
Is Australia a 'hidden jewel' for basketball players (that you'll want to tap into at USD)?
"Without a doubt. I hope this doesn't go out too far, cause I don't want anybody else over there. (he said this tongue-in-cheek) When I was at UND I heard that Craig Smith had gone out there. I keep my ear close to the ground to see who's out there recruiting. It (Australia) is heavily recruited, for all of the things you said before. People like Australian kids and they feel like they do the right things by them and their program."
Obviously recruiting is going to be a huge part of the gig, but are you basically going to be the 'shooting coach' of the team? How prevalent is that in college basketball, to have a specific shooting coach?
"I feel like it's more 'skill development' and 'player development' that I'll be tapping into. Obviously shooting is a big part of that, but it's also finishing, and passing, and being able to play with one another. So that will be a big role for me here."
How hard is it to 'become' a good shooter? I'm guesing you look for the best shooters possible. Or do you look for good players that you say 'I can develop that shot'?
"Usually the good shooting coaches have people that can really shoot it to start with, and maybe make them a little bit better. It's hard. And it's a process. You see some of the professionals we'll get through, and they end up becoming good shooters at the end of their career. I just think that it's something you continually work on. The player needs to be motivated to get better as well. Hopefully we can get every ounce of potential out of them."

new interview with Todd Lee on 99.1 (Overtime/Jeff Thurn)
* edit * I guess there are no podcasts on the 99.1 site. bummer. Maybe the interview will be available somewhere. If not, that's a huge advantage for KWSN In my Opinion. I already prefer listening to John Gaskins to Jeff Thurn. Just gives me another reason to turn the channel. Jerry P, the "Overtime" producer is a Coyote alum, but it seems like KWSN gets more interviews with local coaches and players. That could just be my perception, though.

Listening to Lee interview right now...
Lee contacted Dave Williams when he heard Smith had left.
Lee got a call back later that week from the search firm.
They interviewed 13 people, he was second from last. Two hours later they offered.
Lee talking about Dave Boots and his winning tradition.
Came here because of the administration's commitment and support, including Abbott. And facilities.
Now talking GCU....
It's a special place: President Meuller loves athletics and the student experience. Does a great job getting students out to the game. Coach Majerle is a legend in the Phoenix area. We won a lot of games. That program will continue to grow.
They are similar to USD in that they understand the importance of athletics. USD's facilities are as good as or better than GCU.
Being a head coach for 8 years (at KYWU) now I don't have to learn how to be a head coach. At GCU Coach Majerle let me run it however I wanted. I had complete control of the defense. I prepared for each game like I was the head coach.
Eric Musselman: I'm best friends with him. Mus is a little more of a showman than I am. He has offered me a job more than once. What he has done at Nevada is off-the-charts. When we coached in Rapid City, he knew where every available player in the country was, and would immediately replace players when they would move up. He's unbelievable.

more Lee Interview:
I think the process will take a little time learning the system, but our guys are great. In March we will be playing our best basketball.
(Coach is in Phoenix right now, I'm guessing with family)
