Goyotes.com has a story on the early signees....lots of high caliber young athletes but this one is unique:
Macy Heinz | Middle Distance | Ipswich, S.D. | Ipswich Public HS A five-time South Dakota Class B Track & Field Championship MVP, Heinz has captured 20 South Dakota Class B titles leading into her senior season. She's the only athlete in South Dakota history to capture state titles in every non-hurdle event on the track ranging from 100 meters to 3,200 meters with a cross country title to cap it off. Heinz was named an All-American, the South Dakota Sportswriter Prep Athlete of the Year and the South Dakota Gatorade Athlete of the Year in 2015. Heinz personal best of 2:10.95 for 800 meters is a South Dakota Class B record. She also holds Ipswich High School records for 100 meters (12.10), 200 meters (24.86), 400 meters (56.86), 1,600 meters (4:59.65), 3,200 meters (11:22.52) and on the cross country course (18:26). Heinz was the Howard Wood Dakota Relays champion in the 800-meter special event in both 2013 and 2015. She's won five-straight titles in the 800 meters and 1,600 meters at the state meet. Off the track, Heinz has earned the 2016 Susan B. Anthony award, was the South Dakota Reading Council's Young Authors' Extravaganza winner and won the SDRC poetry contest three times. She's also a National Honor Society member. Heinz plans to major in kinesiology and sport science at South Dakota.
Congratulations to the T&F coaches for excellent recruiting once again.

Accolades and awards aside, I have heard so many good things about Macy as a person the last several years and am very happy she chose USD to continue her education and her athletic pursuits. From parents who have young daughters that look up to her to young athletes that have competed against her, she sounds like a great kid from a terrific family. Happy to hear she is going to be part of the Coyote family now too. Lucky, Gotz, and company will take great care of her and I can see this kid setting that new track on fire. Welcome Macy!
