2011 was the first year in the Summit League, and the last year playing on the dome floor before "The Den" was built (2012-2015, 350 max capacity with standing room). I can't find any attendance numbers for the Great West and NCC years, so it's possible there are older attendance numbers in the top 10. I doubt there are any above 2K though.

I've now looked at USD Volleyball attendance in the 2000-2010 years using opposing team's archived stats (SDSU, UND and Augustana). I'm pretty confident that my top-10 attendance list is accurate.
When USD volleyball finally started to turn around after 20 years of futility in the NCC, the attendance was still abysmal. Under 3-year Head Coach Darin Weber (2000-2002), then HC Brian Lamppa (2003-2007), USD was able to slowly pull the program out of the basement of the NCC, and started producing records above 500. But the attendance vs the Jacks for SDSU's last four seasons in the NCC was:
2000 118 2001 125 2002 175 2003 213 ----did not play--- 2010 612 (Great West) 2011 1122 (Summit)
The rivalry with UND in Volleyball after the XDSUs left appears to not have been a big deal. Here's the home match attendance vs the Sioux in the transition period:
2007 110 (NCC) 2008 285 (Indy) 2009 301 (GW) 2010 302 (GW) 2011 212 (Summit)
For Augie matches in Vermillion, I didn't see anything above 300, despite the fact that their home attendance was very good at times in D-2.

So, official home attendances for the conference are just about completed. For USD we will have to wait until after the SLT, since those matches count as hosted by us. I also think any national postseason matches hosted (like the NIVC) count. But the headline news for now is that even though this might be a record average attendance year for the Yotes (it is), our national ranking actually went down, because of the increase in attendance at other schools (likely the major conference schools?). Here's a breakdown of the last 8 years of Yote VB in the SCSC:Year | Home Ave | Summit Rank | National Rank | other Summit | 2016 | 851 | #1 | #63 | #2 NDSU 752 | 2017 | 747 | #3 | #77 | #1 Omaha 1457 #2 NDSU 762 | 2018 | 615 | #3 | #92 | #1 UND 1001 #2 NDSU 938 | 2019 | 1167 | #1 | #42 | #2 NDSU 780 | 2020 | 487 | #1 | #10 | #2 UND 276 | 2021 | 1014 | #1 | #40 | #2 NDSU 647 | 2022 | 1319 | #1 | #43 | #2 Omaha 895 | 2023 | 1389* | #1 | #52 | #2 Omaha 1318 |
*not a final number Interesting stuff. Keep in mind that we have been consistently good for that entire time, winning either the tournament or regular-season title 6 out of 7 years (maybe 7 of 8 including this year). So I think this is a good example of how a sport sometimes needs consistency to establish that loyal fan-base. I feel like the base could now sustain a poor season or two and people would still show up. That's what we need in football.
