Omaha is beating WIU! Anyone at the game have an explanation?
*edit: looks like UNO is now 10-of-22 from the arc. That sure helps.

High-scoring game, too. I would think the winner of the next women's game (State or IUPUI) will have an advantage on defense in the final. Both are good.

UNO blew it at the end. Could have tied with a 2, won with a 3, and they didn't even get a shot off.

Any predictions for the SDSU-IUPUI game?
I'll say SDSU 65-58 with Thompson and Ober having big games.
- update: 23-23 at the half.
Thompson already in a little foul trouble and got some bench time. IIRC that's one of the ways IUPUI beat State last time, getting the bigs in foul trouble.

The refs are not calling this game tight. Lots of contact. Tie game with 1:30 left. 47-47

Lady Jacks drop this one in OT 62-65. Wow. First Women's final with no team from SD in over a decade, I think.
IUPUI's coach mentioned State's 32 RPI, and making a case for a two-bid League. I'd agree, but we'll see if it happens. More likely the Summit gets 3 in the WNIT, which would be an accomplishment, too.

Remember when the Jacks fans were talking the sweet sixteen like it was a probability and I don't want to hear about Miller as good teams adjust to that stuff. The Summit League was supposed to be a formality for them, a run away but instead a third place finish and a second round tourney exit. The Coyotes lost Flack and barely missed a beat. It is now going to be an interesting future for Summit Women's basketball. Seasons like this are why fans should not count their chickens and start talking about big plans for the post season until they actually get there. Since the Coyotes are not gonna win it I am happy that someone new is going to take it and especially a team from out east.
Now hopefully the Jacks fans will be in a depression and the Coyotes can make this maybe the single biggest disappointing day in Jackrabbit Summit League history.

Sorry if that's petty, but it is what it is. Getting back to the Women's tourney, WIU and IUPUI are just playing lights-out. I wouldn't say either team has superior athletes, just great coaching and some smart, tough and experienced players. Credit to them.

Actually, there were a few comments by Bunny fans about the Final Four being a realistic possibility for the 2017 season just days after their loss to Stanford in the 2nd Round last year. Not sure if it was on their message board or the Argus weekly chat. I'm fairly certain they thought the Sweet Sixteen was a given this year.

Teams adjust to what their left to deal with. Saying losing Macy Miller didn't play part in how could this team could have been is dumb. USD losing Seekamp would have been a blow. They probably still would have been good, but they wouldn't have been near as good. Miller is great, losing her hurt.

The point is that you were supposed to be heads and shoulders above the rest of the league plus I thought there was so much talent there in Brookings that they could certainly afford the loss of a player like Miller and still be able to win the conference comfortably. The point is though that every year your fans and the media talk like your team is the greatest thing to walk the earth and they get way ahead of themselves. This is the 3rd straight year that the Jacks have under achieved their pre season expectations. Sure they use the Summit tourney and the home advantage to make themselves look better than they are but the best team is determined in a round robin league schedule. Maybe next year focus on the season instead of figuring out what seed in the NCAA tourney you will be and how likely making a sweet 16 is. It comes off as extremely arrogant and disrespectful of the rest of the league.

Other teams are too good. You lose your best player and things become much more difficult.

Had USD not had Seekamp for her 15th season last year USD would have been a good team, but not a team capable of making a run, and winning the WNIT or even win a conference regular season title. We did not have a deep enough bench this year to absorb a Miller type of loss much like USD, last season didn't have a deep enough bench to adjust to a Seekamp loss. It is what it is, we will be very good next year, much deeper and we get Miller (not official yet) back for two years. We are in good shape as is USD. I expect the two will be fighting for a conference title again next season. That said, I'm not sure why you care. Don't you now want USD out of the Summit League? Maybe you can call the BSC, ask them if you can replace UND and you can become irrelevant in your own state, much like UND had/has become irrelevant in North Dakota which is one of the big reasons they want into the Summit/MVFC.

When your team had five 1st team all conference selections, you all talked about how your bench would be the starting five on other teams as was referenced on the Argus blog one week with Zimmer, and was a 2017 final 4 candidate, losing one player (no matter how good) should not mean a 3 seed and semi-final exit from the conference.
As state fans usually do you grossly overvalued your team. For a 3rd year in a row.
On your message board I'm sure state fans are already talking about how your women are the clear favorites for next year and still the class of the league and team to beat even though it will be FOUR years since you last won the conference.
