Great season Lady Yotes 23-9 with a new coach, two seniors unable to play all year due to injuries but everyone else really stepped up!!! Special thanks to Bridget and Abbey for all the great memories and all your hard work and dedication over the years!! Best wishes on your careers after college!!
This team had so many great wins and exciting moments!! The future of USD women's basketball is extremely bright! Hopefully Caitlin and Jasmine will be able to return in the fall!
Can't wait for the Lady Yotes to take the court in the fall!! GO YOTES!!!

On the post game interview Coach Plitzuweit spoke as if Trimboli would be back but they would have to win an appeal for Caitlyn to be back. Bridget is the pipeline to the Arens era for Coyote Women's Basketball. She was a team first type player and a good person to have around the locker room. Fogg improved so much from the beginning of her junior year to the end of her career. She was very influential in the Coyotes winning the WNIT and I will probably remember her most for the clutch shots she made in the WNIT championship game.

Trimboli is a non issue because she hs never had a red shirt year. But Caitlyn used a red shirt in transfer year, so NCAA has to approve it.

This year, to me, could be summed up in one four-word response by coach P to a reporter after the first-round win over North Dakota:
(Paraphrased) Reporter: this is the first time I've watched one of your games, but....
Coach: (interrupting) "So what's kept ya?"
I loved that answer. Coach P's expectations are high for her players, but she also has an expectation for fan and media attention. And why wouldn't she? The program has earned it, and this team has earned it.
Keep that chip on your shoulder, girls. It may just come in handy.

I agree with this. Having a chip on your shoulder can be the biggest motivator and I hope the program continues to feel disrespected for something regardless of what it is for and if is true or not.

So looking ahead to next season I would assume this would be the 12 woman active roster. If anyone knows any different please correct.
Liveringhouse (Sr) Trimboli (Sr) Caitlin Duffy (Sr) - obviously a big if A Arens (Jr) Bradley (Jr) Severyn (Jr) Ciara Duffy (So) McKeever (So) Bonar (So) Frederick (So)
Unless one of the above does not remain with the program here are the remaining slots to fill those last two spots
Olivia Korngable (Fr or R-Fr) Monica Arens (Fr or R-Fr) Claudia Kunzer (Fr or R-Fr) Chloe Lamb (Fr or R-Fr)
All are listed as guards for the incoming recruits
I think if the Coyotes have the opportunity to bring in a transfer big I don't see what other choice they would have. The Coyotes have plenty of guards and not enough forwards or centers. There has been some talk about adding a big but nothing concrete as of yet. But a spot almost has to be left open for this. I wonder why the recruiting efforts have not been targeting a center.
If a transfer is brought in then that only leaves one spot open for the 4 incoming freshman to play. I have to think one or two of the players of the 10 listed will not be coming back on scholarship. Just a gut feeling here but I think Korngable and M Arens will be the two premier players of the upcoming class but who knows.

Correct me if I'm wrong but women's basketball has 15 scholarships (compared to 12 for the men). 10 will carry over from this year, plus 4 incoming makes 14 with room for 1 transfer.

Yes women have 15 and but men have 13. So yes if all remains as listed above we would have room for 1 transfer. I agree that a big would be top priority.

Iowa beat Colorado at Iowa 80-62 to advance to the quarter finals of the WNIT. The Lady Yotes barely lost to Iowa at Iowa by 5. The bunnies lost to Colorado in Frost. This overall picture doesn't look good for the rabbits...

Find a way to hold our late lead at Iowa and we would be serious contenders to defend the title right now. What could have been. Oh well.

This overall picture doesn't look good for the rabbits... The argument against your comparison is that transitive theory doesn't work in sports.... unless the comparison works in your favor. Like comparing the USD men's loss in the NIT to the Gonzaga loss.... but nobody would try to make that comparison, right?............... *insert sarcastic wink*

Comparisons are always fraught with pitfalls but none the less can generate good discussion. The Zags are a very good team but they missed a ton of open shots in the first half of the xdsu game (which they didn't miss in the game earlier in the year against USD) but they improved in the 2nd half. Their D is very good. Iowa was the top seed in the NIT just missing the NCAA cut and the Yotes played them before 13K fans at Iowa and lost by 12. Are the Zags better than the Hawkeyes yes--are they a ton better no. On the women's side I thought Colorado would play Iowa better than they did after their close win at Frost (especially when you look at their schedule--they played a lot of ranked teams). As I've said before the women's Summit league teams are much closer to the major college teams than on the men's side.

^^^ I think you missed the sarcasm- I was agreeing with you. I was pointing out the hypocrisy of the inevitable "you can't compare teams like that " comments that would inevitably follow from the more belligerent members of our Jacks contingent. A similar comparison of the men's teams was made previously in another thread.

This overall picture doesn't look good for the rabbits... I'll bite! The Jacks beat Iowa in Iowa this season so that comparative score would be in their favor. (Of course, that was with Miller). Some teams match up better against other teams that are better in the post and other teams match up better against guard driven teams. SDSU and USD split games every season so even games between the same teams, you get a different result on a different night. The teams have to be somewhat comparable though.
