Since the meeting is on Sunday, and there is wild speculation, I thought I'd make a poll. Keep in mind that this assumes they invite only one school, and said school accepts.......
I'll say Valpo. St. Louis already has a good conference, if a little geographically challenged.

I agree on Valpo. Should they accept though?

Three people voted for San Diego State? I just don't see that happening.

I just don't believe that it will be a Summit team at all because of the MV all sports conference not wanting to take away stability from it's football playing schools. It's either something big regarding the Summit League or nothing at all. In other words either the 5 football playing schools go together or none of them go. Since it won't be big this time around it will be a non Summit School. Belmont was my vote. Both SDSU's have about the same chance at getting an invite as a lone school and we know what the chances are of the Aztecs being the choice. The Summit is nice but the Summit League office does not treat all of it's members equally and I think it would be quite fitting if the entire league fell apart because of it. I think if there is a first exit from Summit League schools that it will be the Indiana schools bolting for the Horizon or another eastern conference. If not then I could see ORU or Denver leaving eventhough ORU just came back. It seems like other then the Dakota schools that all other Summit schools are interchangable with Omaha the most likely 5th school to stay long term.

www.nwitimes.com/blogs/sports/inside-vu-sports/does-valparaiso-match-with-missouri-valley-conference/article_94731998-1c00-11e7-b3e0-43c65eaf13e7.htmlHere's an article from a Valparaiso writer/fan that looks at the pros and cons of accepting a bid to the MVC. I thought it was very well-thought-out, and actually included a study based on LinkedIn Accounts of alumni of Valpo. and shortest/ longest/ average travel distance. He concluded that the travel is a wash. Both conferences are tight geographically, and not a huge problem. Also, the level of competition would be higher, along with costs in upgrading facilities and coaches salaries. Although visibility would increase, the access to the tournament would be the same or worse. There was a huge disparity in alumni living in the conferences cities, though. Which is a factor people don't always think about. Lots of Valpo alumni in the Horizon League cities. I wonder where USD's alumni are concentrated? Sioux Falls, of course, and I know lots of my college friends that live in Omaha. I assume Minneapolis, Denver, Des Moines and Fargo, too.
