I wasn't trying to be rude by saying the dome could use a facelift, I was just giving an opinion. Yeah, that was more directed at your post #1 in the other thread. Most posters here gave you a free pass based on the assumption that it was a drunk post, but I thought it was pretty frickin rude and disrespectful, drunk or not. I probably should have just responded to the original post. On the other hand, now you have three posts, and two of them weren't flaming, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

It it will be weird next year with the construction but it will be worth it
what a great building the dome has been.

Is the seating capacity going up to 16,000? It it will be weird next year with the construction but it will be worth it what a great building the dome has been. not 16,000. The University has not released an "official" new capacity number, but it sounds like the new number will be in the 13k to 14k range? Based on renderings, there is also a long-term plan (conceptual?) to expand some seating on the north endzone. I would assume that might get us to the 16k target number. The minimum for FBS is 15k right now, but it isn't enforced, as there are multiple MAC schools that fail to average that much. I think the administration is more concerned with trying to accommodate growth in the fan base, as opposed to FBS requirements, though. Trying to nail down the actual vs. reported capacity of the Dome has been a contentious topic, as the university has had the same official capacity for many years, despite many changes to the seating in the dome that have both increased and reduced seating. There are no publicly available seat maps of the grandstand anymore, but I'm sure they use one internally. There is probably a reason for that. You can read more on the capacity and expansion topic in several linked articles in the other large Facilities forum thread. I'ts the one called "Facility details and renderings" or something like that. The Board Of Regents document has the most recent floor plans for the expansion that have been made available.

Wow. So we are essentially going from around 7,000 seats (maybe 7,500 capacity?) to around 9,500 seats (maybe 10,000 capacity?). So did anyone ask Herbster about USD claiming 10K for 35 years?
I mean, the project will be great for the football team, recruiting, fan experience, AD income, etc. Kind of a bummer on the smokescreen, though.

Where is CF right now? He finally won the battle. Herbster himself has admitted the Dome is nowhere near that 10k figure.
The numbers aren't news, but I am surprised Herbster is stating them out in public.

I hope you have your season tickets this year, because those numbers suggest there will only be 4,400 non-student tickets available for each home game. 20% less than usual. I feel like most games that main grandstand was usually a good 80% full, so we are headed for a lot of sellouts. Those DDays and State-U tickets will be impossible to get if you don't act ASAP.

You can't act ASAP. Season ticket renewals go to June, then season ticket sales open up to new people. I was going to add another seat this year, wonder if I'll be able to do that.

ASAP is this Summer, as you point out we can't buy tickets until then. Warning people now.

I like the wrap behind the goal posts. The little details make a difference, and I always though the old faded black on the walls was a bad look.

I think the student section and band needs to stay on the east side after the renovation. I know there will be a larger grandstand on the east, and you want the band pointed towards the fans, but with the new locker-rooms on the west, I assume the Yotes sideline will be shifted to the west, too.
To me, you have to have the students and band somewhere they can get in the visiting teams' heads, and the front of the existing grandstand is just 8 feet above the field, as opposed to the new grandstand, with its box seats in front. Just a thought.
