Yes, I will. Good points. For starters, they can't put up bleachers on the flat up above because of the "ribbon board" that is in place would be in many people's line of sight. Secondly, there is a major concern for weight of that many people, that's why the volleyball had a maximum number of 350 people. Lastly there is the overall general concern of concessions and bathroom facilities. They contemplated doing this last year against NDSU but didn't do it for the reasons I stated. I'm not giving up yet! There is no reason bleachers have to start at ground level - the temp bleachers in the dome for hoops started up 5 or 6 rows behind the benches. Not sure I buy the weight issue entirely (there was weight room up there after all). Still no reason it can't be limited to 1000 or 750 or whatever. Bathrooms are easy - it is connected in the corner to the hallway in SCSC (easier than East side seats). Concessions lines are insane on the East, why should it be better on the West? Some tables, coolers of pop/water etc. would be just fine (unless they want to get more professional and open the concession in the hallway at SCSC). Lastly, one major thing to note that is different right now - these tickets will go to USD fans, not just adding more NDSU fans...

I liked the idea of adding capacity for the game, but it sounds like it isn't currently feasible, or at least not worth what added capacity could be worked in on that West side. We're better off talking about how to make the Dome better on a permanent basis. We are going to be developing the West side of the Dome, what could we work in to make it the best the Dome its best? When I think of other indoor facilities, my mind jumps to the Premier Center. I'd love it if we could have a bar/restaurant area on the concourse similar to what they have leading into the lower bowl. The current lack of alcohol sales present a roadblock, but I would love it if we could have something like that in the Dome. Surely there are some ideas that can be inspired by looking towards other indoor facilities.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN THE DOME RENOVATION? Prioritize as fans what you would like to see A lot of this has already been discussed, but here my 2 cents: Priority 1: Locker Rooms/player lounge area; offices and meeting rooms. (One would think this should be fairly easy to do on the bottom level of the west side, not withstanding any structural work needed to be done for further renovations up above) Priority 2: Concourse/permanent seating on the west side. This will surely take the longest as there would need to be construction both inside and outside the dome(ie. new entrances, etc.) . i would like to see a set up with permanent seating for students like the lower level on the east grandstand, and a club level above that, similar to the new arena or the cambria club at the denny where you could either be in a bar type atmosphere or out on a landing just above the student section. Above that area could be leveled seating connected to the new west concourse, with new press box and media area above it. Priority 3: Something on the North end to connect the 2 sides (to give the bowl feel as previously mentioned), ideally a concourse with maybe some seating behind the goalpost for either students or the band. I may have missed this, but what is being planned for the bottom of the east side right now once football is out of there? I've heard pool projects mentioned, storage space...anyone heard whats going in there for certain? Thanks in advance. Go Yotes!

Wonder if they could build a new pressbox on the west side, flip the turf, and not show student section on tv?

That is only the first phase... No mention of putting in new permanent seating and increasing seating capacity overall. Also no mention of new sky-boxes and renovations to the concourse on the east side.

I get the feeling this renovation could take a decade, or at least longer than I-29 construction through Sioux City.

It simply comes down to fund raising. $26.5M to do phase 1. Then depending what's next, it could be another $25M.
That's why I have asked for what you would like to see west side have. If we can raise the total, we can get it complete in one shot. If not, it comes in phases. Given we will have a new president next July, one never knows if that person will be athletic friendly. Now is the time to get this project done, but we need people to step up to the plate. Now.

I don't think they could do it all in one shot anyway. It would take too long to complete all of that in one offseason unless you plan on playing games somewhere else.

I think he means getting the money in place and plan approved all in one shot. Construction may still happen in phases but the project would be one plan instead of multiple plans.
I agree about having an AD friendly President. I was there during the tenure of the worst, most unfriendly to athletics President in USD history. If the next president isn't friendly to athletics the boo birds and calls for their dismissal should come out early and often.

I want the West side to have a two tiered grand stand. I envision a first level grandstand that goes about halfway up, with club level seating in the middle and SRO on the sides, this level would also contain concessions/bathrooms, think of an open mezzanine. A second level that hangs over the first level and mezzanine would on top of that. The pitch of each grandstand deck would be steep enough so that you feel on top of the action and it would also maximize the seating. You ever been to the left field deck at Target Field or the balcony at the Washington Pavilion? That's the kind of steep pitch I am talking about. On top of that sky/press boxes.

I really like the idea of a two-tiered grandstand, especially if it means more seating. I'm sure it would cost significantly more but it would look great and give the Dome a more "big time" feel.
