What's the skinny with Nick Hovden leaving as Golf Coach? 8 years and both Men's and Women's programs made nice progress. Hope Herbster's magic with bringing in solid coaching staff continues here.

I was surprised as well. It seemed he was recruiting hard this past school year. I expect part of it is monetary. Tried to look up his salary but was unsuccessful. NDSU has been successful, and in the past year dedicated a new 2,500 square foot short game facility. The Bison are also putting another $1 million (I believe that is the number) into improving softball facilities.

Coyote men worked their way back from 4th place to a tie for 2nd place yesterday in the Summit League men's golf championships. They played the final two rounds yesterday due to weather issues. Tommy Vining concluded his senior season with two great rounds of golf. Congrats Tommy and thanks for all your contributions to the Coyote golf team.
I checked the Showdown Series "cup of corn" standings and because we tied sdsu yesterday, the current standings will remain 9-7 in favor of the bunnies. Should be interesting to see how softball and men's and women's track shakes out in the next few weeks.

Looks like they awarded .5 points to each school, so it is 9.5-7.5 State will probably win it this year, unless we can sweep all three remaining sports. My guess is we will win the Women's outdoor track, they will win the men's, and I'm not sure on the softball series. On the bright side, we are basically a shoe-in for a fourth-straight all-women's sports Summit award. Pretty impressive season for women's sports. We will probably finish 2nd or 3rd for the Commissioner's Cup again. We could have won it with a better performance from the men's bb team IMO.

Doesn't the commissioners cup go by total points with all sports? The men would have a tougher time bringing it home with less teams to accumulate points.

Yes, but the women are so far ahead of everyone that it pulls the total up for the comissioner's cup. I still don't think we will win it, but we have done well the last few years, finishing 2nd or 3rd. The all-sports men's award has been a different story, of course. Here's the historical standings: www.thesummitleague.org/Commissioners_Cup/archives
