MVFC play begins tonight:
WIU at Tennessee Tech EIU at Indiana State Duquesne at SDSU
Tennessee Tech and EIU are mid-to-upper half OVC teams, making this a chance to show the MVFC's strength as WIU and InSU aren't likely to reach .500 this year.
Duquesne is from a garbage league and shouldn't stand a chance.
Saturday:
USD at Drake Missouri State at Missouri Youngstown State at Pitt Mississippi Valley State at NDSU Butler at Illinois State Northern Iowa at Iowa State
Pitt and Iowa State are on upset alert (if UNI beating Iowa State still counts as an upset). I'm guessing neither pull it off though.
None of the other games will be close. USD, NDSU, Illinois State win big, Missouri State gets their paycheck.

I don't see YSU taking out Pitt.
I would like to see UNI beat ISU, but if that were to happen...again...I have to think there will be people in Ames questioning what the heck Matt Campbell is doing there. ISU should win this, should, but don't underestimate the ability of the Clones to really stink.

I thought I read that Pitt lost a ton of talent from last season and that YSU could give them a good game. But I still have Pitt winning. I have Western and SDSU winning, but not Indy st.

If it's for weed they should do the appropriate time and it's interesting if they pushed this back if it was during the playoffs. If it were the Yotes it would be all over (save your you have to make it to the playoffs first). Side note: legalize weed already. Alcohol is worse and teams won't have to even deal with this in the future. The players would have been suspended the next game. If you go back and look, Youngstown had a few players test positive too and they were suspended the rest of playoffs. Since SDSU was done, the suspensions start this year for game 1. No one is perfect, but there's way worse things to worry about. The kids will do their suspension and they'll move on.

Youngstown nearly pulled off the upset at Pitt. They lose 28-21 in OT. Go to espn and watch what turns out to be the game winning catch. Good defense, but when you watch it, focus on Pitts right side tackle. Sure looks like holding to me.

What the first weekend shows is that the MVFC is going to be very-very tough once again this year. Even Indiana State and Missouri State didn't look too bad in week 1 despite losses.

A healthy Streveler will score more than anyone else in the conference. He had 31 TDs last season and didn't even play in every game, already at 6 after Drake. Stay healthy and no one individual is going to compete with his total.

How is Brett Taylor not on that list. It appears your team has a few really good LBers - WIU had another LBer with MVFC honors last week. Is he in the same league with Taylor?

Yeah we have arguably the best LB group in the conference i expect are Defense to be much improved over last year but it's hard to tell after a game against tennessee tech and the new DC bringing in the 3-4 y biggest concern fro week 1 was are passing game but when you lose 2 of the top receivers in program history that's to be expected this weekend should tell us how good the conference is a lot of really good matchups that could go either direction
