Color me shocked that there are early indicators that SDSU won't live up to expectations. Shocked!

The more occ games conference teams win the better the chances for everyone when it comes to playoff bids I would think. 13-6 so far which is solid with four of the losses being to power 5 schools. Next weekend would be a good time to run the table.

Color me shocked that there are early indicators that SDSU won't live up to expectations. Shocked! Kind of like that Cal Poly game last year predicated the demise of SDSU, who went on to share the Valley title with NDSU. SDSU has a game like this every year in non-conference action. It is a hallmark of the Stig era. You need to worry more about USD. Prove everyone wrong and beat UND. They have a very solid, smart, disciplined defense, and a talented offense. They are the real deal, unlike your first two opponents. If you can beat UND we can begin talking about whether or not you will finally finish above .500 in league play.

This will be a ridiculous week for area fanboards. All the SDSU people will be hoping/expecting a USD loss, and all the NDSU people will be hoping/expecting a UND loss. And since fanboard trolling is a sport to those two groups...

I have a strong hunch that a win over UND would also be written off by the other MVFC fanbases. They only respect other teams when they find it to be convenient.

azsod73 - Sorry, I had to delete that post. You were trying to post something from Twitter but it was a mess. Thanks for deleting. Need to preview before posting! Trying to copy a tweet from Jeff Kolpack, a Fargo sportswriter where he noted "Seven teams from the Missouri Valley reach this week's FCS Stats.com top 25 media poll. USD new at 23. I voted Yotes fifth"

Go back to bashing us on other sites pathetic troll

You mean they respect other teams when they earn it.....when you don't have a winning conference season yet don't expect heaps of respect and praise. SDSU didn't get respect for a long time (historically one of the most underrated teams in the AGS poll comparing their preseason to end of season rank) until they made the playoffs a bunch and won some games there. One win or even one good season won't win everyone over. It takes time. I respected the hell out of your win vs Bowling Green. Will it translate into a successful season? No idea. If you guys beat the UNDies I'll start to believe you are the real deal for the playoffs. As for SDSU's win last week, I was very unimpressed. Maybe MSU ends up being better than people expected, who knows, but if SDSU is a top 5 team they shouldn't have let them back in the game like they did. And we won't find out if SDSU is the real deal or not until the YSU game now.

SDSU should have beat MSU by a lot if you go by their rankings. MSU had a good shot at winning with a TD called back and then shanking a FG at the end. I guess I didn't think it would take a trick play by SDSU to win that game. The only thing that matters is a W at the end of the day. If we keep winning we will keep earning respect. I could still care less if we are ranked at this point.

Rankings are nice and create a lot of discussion, but in reality, what are they worth? I think voters from each area of the country look out for their own a lot. Remember USD's first season in the MVFC when we were absolutely not ready to compete with conference teams, yet we managed to beat a 9-2, league champion playoff qualifier in Colgate. Regardless of what our record ends up this year, and in the Valley the schedule is a gauntlet, in most conferences we'd be at or near the top easily. I think you could say this about a majority of the MVFC teams. So many games are going to come down to one or two big plays no matter who's playing who.

Why does anyone care if SDSU fans are giving the Yotes respect? It's not like we don't end up playing them and a bunch of other same teams from the conference. If we beat them and do well in the conference then I'm sure we'll earn their respect, if not, then we probably won't and we'll look foolish for bitching about not having it after the first two games of the year. Having the respect of the opposing fans doesn't really do us any good in the win/loss column.
The fact of the matter is we haven't finished over .500 in conference yet. It's tough to bitch too much about not having the proper respect. Hopefully we will earn it this year.

I don't think it's that. I think it's that people are excited about a good FBS win and a good start to the season, looking forward to a big game with UND, and they don't like SDSU fans coming in here and wizzing on their parade, downplaying the teams accomplishments thus far. Nobody likes "yeah, but" guy.

Act as if you're used to it. You want respect? Win November 11th and 18th
