SDSU is probably easier to key on as well. They have 2 receivers that are way better then the rest so the D knows who to cover. The Coyotes spread the ball around so well and have at least 3 receivers that can go off for big games at any time. The biggest reason that the Coyotes are a better passing offense and a better total offense comes down to scheme and coaching more then anything. The Jacks really haven't faced that great of defenses yet and when they did they crumbled like crusty cookie. It was night and day how much more effective the Coyotes offense was against Youngstown. They were driving for a 35-10 lead before they stubbed their tow a bit.

I like to do a standing based on the home loss vs road win criteria. Ties broken by teams with wins first and whoever had the harder game second. 1 Illinois State +1 2 South Dakota +1 3 Northern Iowa +1 4 North Dakota St E 5 Youngstown State E 6 South Dakota St E 7 Indiana State E 8 Western Illinois -1 9 Southern Illinois -1 10 Missouri State -1 Good ranking system. It might provide some guidance when trying to determine a home field advantage. NDSU beat EWU on the road so +1 for NDSU too. Could be +2 after today which would put them ahead of USD which should be +1. It should create a tie at the top: ISUr with a win at SIU and NDSU with a win at YSU.

Forgot to update this from last week (this is in MVFC games only)
South Dakota +1 North Dakota St +1 Illinois State +1 Western Illinois E Youngstown State E South Dakota St E Northern Iowa E Southern Illinois -1 Indiana State -1 Missouri State -1
There is no perfect rating system and this one isn't actually all that kind to the Yotes. The Coyotes don't play Missouri State and their two most winnable road games at ISUb and S. Illinois just both happen to be home games this year. For the Coyotes to improve their standing it is difficult because they have their easiest road game this year at UNI.

Youngstown is pushing around the Bison and just took a 10-0 lead towards the end of the 1st quarter.

I saw SDSU lost at home to UNI today. They are kind of underperforming this year so far.

What is so funny about SDSU in general is that the more they get hyped up in the media I believe they read those press clippings. For a program that has only been to the final 8 one time they should worry about just showing up every week before talking about national titles. Same goes for their women's hoops team. They are already hyped up this year and were picked to win the conference over a defending champ that has almost everyone back. Once again the Coyote women fly under the radar. With the Coyotes accomplishments it's amazing that they go unnoticed nearly every year in women's hoops. Jacks fans need to stay humble and respect all opponents, as that is when they may have bigger successes. They pat themselves on the back way too much. The Jack's board is going to be in full meltdown mode tonight.
As much as I love outdoor football the dome gives the Coyotes such an advantage. The Jacks should have built a dome because today's weather probably didn't play into their hands. The Coyotes create more noise with half to two-thirds as many fans. The Jacks are built for a dome and the Coyotes are built for a dome. Luckily for USD they have one. What a hobo day. Dreary weather and a dreary performance and the Jacks fans get to come to the realization that they probably aren't going nearly as far as they had assumed this year. Lots of season left for them to turn it around but they have some very difficult games to come just as the Coyotes do.

AS NDSU does they always respond. Stick with a 80 TD run and it is 24-17 Bison.

Great Job by the yotes today as they were the only top tier team who showed up today it just shows how good the valley truly is.

YSU missed a field goal NDSU wins it with a field goal. Youngstown tried to ice the kicker and called time out. The kick ended up missing but the second chance barely snuck inside the uprights.
The Coyotes will have to settle for the co lead in the MVFC.

Pelini is an idiot. It's statistically proven that icing the kicker does not work. Should have gone to a 2nd OT but he opted to give NDSU's kicker a warmup.

The biggest problem with NDSU is going to be having to try to win one in the Fargo Dome. The Bison and Youngstown are more run first teams. I think the Coyotes offense is so much more multi-dimensional then both of these teams and the Coyote receivers are very much a threat compared to the Bison's which tend to be more possession types. The biggest reason that the Coyotes lost to the Bison last year was because they could not stop their running game but that problem has been greatly improved. I think the Coyotes would beat the Bison in Vermillion but as of now I favor the Bison in Fargo. I think the Yotes are a bad matchup for NDSU. If the Jacks would ever get their act together I fear they would have the best chance to beat the Yotes because they can really take advantage of the Yotes secondary which has been probably their weakness. Not only do the Coyotes run the spread but they also spread the ball around which can really be a nightmare for an opponent.

NDSU played a great game on Saturday. It looked a lot like the USD/YSU game. Very physical, very competitive. YSU, NDSU &USD are in my opinion the top 3 teams in the league.
Un_ fans are your new best pals USD is their best chance on seeing the Bison lose. They spend a lot of their time dreaming up a bad future for NDSU football. At last look they were speculating on Bison football 2050 in a Fargo with 350,000 population. They talked themselves down from from NDSU moving to a major FBS conference with a new stadium to this:
“No team from the MAC, or Sun Belt is going to be in the FBS “playoffs”, so that would mean unless NDSU joins the Big 10 or Big 12, there will be no chance at a National Title. I am sure by the time they move up there will be more Bowl games so the 5-7 and 4-8 teams can play in one. Unless there is another tier in the FBS it’s not worth moving up especially with our location.”
with that calming them them down from all the injuries to their obviously national championship football team they are content in another moral victory and having a chance.
