I didn't see a thread to put this in, so I decided to start one. Right now there are 7 MVFC teams in the top-25, and 5 in the top-10! I'm not sure if that has happened before in the past, but it's pretty impressive, nonetheless: www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs/fcs-coaches-poll2 NDSU 4 SDSU 5 YSU 8 Ill St 10 USD16 W Ill 20 UNI I think teams might start dropping out with conference play, but this is a great place to start in order to maximize playoff teams.

According to the release on goyotes.com this is the third time that the MVFC has had 5 teams in the top 10.
When I saw this ranking I had a thought. Wow, the Yotes have finally moved far enough along that voters have them as a top 10 team. That's good enough for...5th in the conference. Top half! Barely!

This conference is absolutely incredible. There are going to be so many coin flip games this year that whoever doesn't bring their "A" game on any given Saturday is going to lose. I would be shocked if any team was able to run the table. Biggest problem I see in regards to national rankings and playoff seedings and berths: Does everyone cannibalize each other?

If the Coyotes don't get their kicking game in gear that could be the deciding factor in 1 or 2 games. It could be the difference in making the playoff or not making the playoffs or the difference between getting a playoff seed or not getting one.

I second Coyote Fan's comment about special teams (kicking game). In close matchup games it's the "little things" that often determine the winner. Crucial penalties, missed field goals/extra points, blocked kicks, etc. play an outsized role in the final score. I hope this isn't our Achilles heel this year.

Not surprised to see YSU as the highest 3-loss team, but SDSU should be lower IMO.

Wow. The STATS poll backs up the FCS Coaches poll's rankings. Sagarin is eye-opening, too. Here is the extrapolated FCS poll from Sagarin: 1. NDSU2. James Madison 3. USD 4. YSU 5. WIU 6. SDSU 7.
