Great game by Armstrong today with a career high 24 pts and he played well defensively too!! Fun to see the continued development by Doss and Umude (to name just two) which reflects the overall depth of this Coyote team and the bright future that Coyote basketball has!! GO YOTES!!! I’m out of town and couldn’t watch it.if you would, expand on your comment about Doss and Umude. I’m curious what made them stand out. Particularly Umulde. Thx

Both are very athletic. Doss did overall job of hitting the O & D glass, handles the ball well and plays D. Umude had several drives to the basket showing his quickness. Very athletic and has great length to finish at the rim. By the way Stensgard has the look of a point guard made several nice assists/passes (has very good vision) and hit a long three.

Doss is a really nice player. It's too bad he was hurt all of last year and missed the development and familiarity with the system that goes along with it. He's more than capable of contributing some solid minutes and he seems to know his role on the floor and embrace it. Umude is all potential. Another year to fill out and gain strength and maturity and he could really become a force to be reckoned with.

I know we aren't done with this year's team yet, but decided to start looking ahead to next year...
We return all 5 starters
Thoughts on contributions next year by those sitting on the bench this year...
Losing: Hurst, Fuller, Sparks, and Doss
Gaining: Ben Fakira -- 6'10" C from Australia Sam Griesel -- 6'5" SF from Lincoln East Tauriawn Knight -- 6'1" G from Oklahoma
By my calculations, this leaves one spot open for a grad transfer... anyone hearing anything about that?

I would imagine this is a very attractive year for a grad transfer who could go to just about anywhere. I don't personally know of what the talent pool looks like for grad transfers, though. Anybody have any info on that?

My guess would be that Ben Fakira gets some playing time.
We are graduating Sparks, Jech should be the next man up, but he is currently hurt and his PT has been limited all year.
Fakira is a BIG kid... thick. Definitely looks the part of being able to step in and bang the boards with the bigs.

Has anyone followed what our chances are at the NIT? I heard Smith said something about some places having us projected as a 5 or 6 seed, but some have us right on the bubble. Sounds like a lot would depend how many top seeds lost in their conference tournament. I haven't been following the early conf tourneys to know whether #1 seeds were getting knocked off. From here on out I will certainly be cheering for the top seeds in these mid major leagues. Obviously the NIT wasn't our goal here, but if we can get in and win a couple of games it would take a little sting out of this loss. We are a better team this year I feel so I think we would have a chance to make a run, I just really hope we get the chance.

Right now they have us on the bubble, likely a strong CBI/CIT candidate. It's too bad that they only have 32 teams in the Men's NIT.

I’m as bummed as anyone about yesterday. I’m not mad at the team - I’m mad for them. It was obviously devastating. There is no such thing as a moral victory. However, I’m so proud of this program. They have improved in so many ways. Two years ago, following our first round loss in the 2016 tournament, Craig was talking about each of his first two seasons having its own identity and that moving forward there would be more stability. No one could have guessed that we would immediately compete in the Summit in 16-17 and win the regular season championship. This year, we improved our overall and conference record and went all the way to the tournament championship. That is a tremendous improvement.

Big picture yes this season was better than last year, but it still sucks how it ended.

NCAA votes this summer on new transfer rules. That could change everything in regard to who might stay, who might leave, who might transfer in...
