Last weeks results:
Yotes 5-1 Almost perfect! Aldewitt 4-2 coyote crazy 4-2 USDtator 4-2 golfing yote 4-1. No tiebreaker but very good! Coyote Fan 3-2 easmus 3-2 yote forever 3-2 gopheryote 2-3
For the week of October 28, 2017 I have:
USD has to turn yards into points. More focus in the red zone. They have to watch against the big play.
The difference here is +3 home field for WIU. They only avg 4,500 at WIU but its their field and their backs are to the wall
Again, +3 for YSU home field Indiana State 30 @ MSU 38 could be a great game
If this game turns out to be as wide open as it appears to be its going to be fun to watch. It wont have the drama of a defensive battle but it will be full of offensive excitement. Their defenses promise a lot of scores, their offenses may struggle.
The Bison just keep getting stinger and stinger on defense. Bison by 18 is a big number. Intuition tells me to take the Bison and the under. 18 is too much to cover with UNI showing signs of gelling into a top team.
Tie Breaker: Accidently ran Montana game again but have now posted the expected results for the UND @ Portland matchup. This is an interesting game between two bad football teams that might explode into a competitive contest worth watching. With the home field adjustment of +3 we have a 32-32 tie. Im taking Portland in what could be, at this level of football, called an upset.

These are hard games to predict, I could see them all going either way.
SIU @ USD - USD will be pissed and it's in the Dome. 42-30 Yotes SDSU @ WIU - This is a tough one. Its gonna be windy and chilly. I'll go WIU 38-31, McShane 3 TD's ISUr @ YSU - Ice Castle is a tough place to play. Will ISUr be able to get the pressure they did against us? Ill take an upset ISUr 28-24 ISUb @ MSU - I'll take the bears 24-17 UNI @ NDSU - I don't see the Bison losing this year at least in the regular season. 28-14 Bison UND @ PSU - I don't know much about Portland State, but they are 0-7. UND 31-30

SIU at USD - Coyotes bounce back 59-21, if they win by less then 14 I will be concerned that there would have been a carry over effect from the ISUr game.
SDSU at WIU - really tough one to pick. If the bad SDSU shows up they have no chance. If the great SDSU shows up they could very well win. Do they have an in between. I will go with the Leathernecks in this one 45-28
ISUr at YSU - I will take YSU to win by 10. I think ISUr had a best case senario last week and I don't think they will repeat that performance. It is better for the Coyotes if the Penguins win.
ISUb at MSU - the don't care bowl. I will go with the Bears 35-23
UNI at NDSU - the Coyotes next two opponents need to bash each other into oblivion. I will predict a NDSU win by 20. If UNI losses the Coyotes can knock them out of the playoffs at the UNI Dome the following week.

SIU @ USD - Yotes of course SDSU @ WIU - WIU hands the bunnies their 3rd loss ISUr @ YSU - YSU is only 3-4 team still in the top 25 and they will show why this weekend ISUb @ MSU - MSU with the W UNI @ NDSU - NDSU gives the Panthers a beating UND @ PSU - Fighting Sioux/Hawks

I'll try my hand:
USD - if crowd not into it, then OT is possible (very much hope this isn't the case but Coyote teams haven't often bounced back late in the season) SDSU - WIU will not be able to keep up NDSU - defense is the key for both sides YSU - coin flip: heads YSU wins, tails they lose. It's heads MSU - Mo. State has just a little "Mo" than ISU UND - Could UND put a few of their hockey players on the team? UND 27; Portland 24

SIU @ USD SDSU @ WIU Illinois State @ YSU Indiana State @ Missouri State UNI @ NDSU
Picks in bold. Only toss up in my head is the Indiana State-Missouri State. Someone's gotta suck less.
Tiebreaker: UND gets their 3rd and final win of the year.

Prediction Friday. This time brought to you with little more than gut feeling and zero actual research:
SIU 37 @ USD 51 - there should a LOT of plays run on Saturday SDSU 20 @ WIU 37 - I may be missing something here, as a lot of people seem to be picking SDSU, but it completely befuddles me as to why. Does WIU have a bunch of guys hurt? Did they stop being good, but I missed it? Illinois State 24 @ YSU 21 - I just don't think YSU has any gas in the tank, and ISU has some confidence after last week Indiana State 24 @ Missouri State 37 UNI 21 @ NDSU 20 - Because it would set up 2 really fun games in a row for the Yotes.
I'll take UND in the bonus game, simply because I have to assume at least a few of their injured players will be returning by now?

YSU - backs against the wall SDSU - the Jacks are going to win bigger than most people think MSU - Indiana State just doesn't have the offensive firepower to keep up NDSU - Physical game as usual and NDSU will be ready at home this week. May have to run Stick more this week than usual USD - USD makes a big statement win and gets back on track.
* Portland State beats UND - long road trip and UND is reeling - PSU knows if they want to win this year, this game will be it.

Would anyone who is expecting a Jacks win care to give some thoughts as to why? I am truly curious, and as I noted above, it makes me wonder if I'm missing something (it is not smack/dig on them). On paper it looks heavily weighted towards WIU, who ranked 7 spots higher in the AGS poll and playing at home. Thanks in advance!

WIU is going to run right through the Jacks. Leathernecks will control the LOS and come away with the W.

On paper it looks heavily weighted towards WIU, who ranked 7 spots higher in the AGS poll and playing at home. Thanks in advance! You are absolutely correct in that thought. If the game was in a dome it would be higher scoring and would offer the Jacks their best chance. At WIU in cold and windy conditions those jump balls to Weineke and Goddart may not be so effective. The Jacks used to be built for bad weather now they are not. If it comes down to a smash mouth and short passing game the Leathernecks might just blow them out. If the weather holds up the Jacks chances are better but if it goes south the rabbits will follow in that direction right along with it. Look how much it hurt the Coyotes and they are probably better running and against the run. SD played a team that I don't consider quite as good as WIU and the Jacks aren't quite as good as the Coyotes.

On paper it looks heavily weighted towards WIU, who ranked 7 spots higher in the AGS poll and playing at home. Thanks in advance! In watching the past three games (on replay) that is my thought. The weather although not ideal, will be cool but not cold for the players, and the wind will not be as strong as what we have been experiencing lately in the Dakotas. Under 10 mph wind is currently forecast for kickoff. SDSU's Oline is improving and protecting T.C. is crucial to their offense. He appears to get rattled at times if he takes hits and is under pressure. This will be key. I also think the way WIU plays defense, some of their normal pressures they run will not be run as often due to having to account for SDSU's big TE. I am certainly in the minority here, but I believe SDSU wins by 10+ tomorrow. We all get to see tomorrow. The only game I really care about is USD v SIU - lets start tailgating now!
