I'm just calling my shot here.
Official statement: SDSU claims all the tickets to this game (other than the allotment to NDSU) were sold to individuals and businesses at full price.
Rumor: One or two large donors (Dana D) bought the tickets at reduced value in order to box out Bison fans.
Bison fans are angry, and if there are thousands of empty seats at the game, will probably post about it. I'm inclined to believe the rumor. I could be wrong, but they haven't even come close to a sellout up there this year. Should be fun.

I can’t say I blame SDSU and if I’m them I would rather a few seats are empty.

I can recall some of their fans mocking our ticket office strategy of not selling State-U tickets to the general public until a couple weeks before the game. I'm sure those same geniuses are lauding the SDSU ticket office's bastardization of that strategy (if the rumor is true and there are swaths of empty seats tomorrow).

I'm at the same hotel as the Bison team tonight, and you can sense they are very uptight/nervous.
Just kidding. They are actually so laid back that you wouldn't even guess they have a game tomorrow.

I guess I'm not saying it's a bad strategy, just that it makes them look silly. Especially since the AD has come out and directly denied it.
I'll happily eat my words if that stadium is full of 19k blue-clad fans. That would be impressive, and would break the record for most-attended sports event in SD history!
Breaking a record disingenuously would be kind-of lame, OTOH.

My guess is that stadium will be pretty darned full. If not, then that speaks volumes for what attendance will be like for them once they have a mediocre record. To diss them for that strategy I think is somewhat fickle on our part. We have done close to the same thing, and if I was the AD and had my chance at selling it out and at the same time keeping their obnoxious fan base out, I sure as hell would do it myself.
Congrats to Dana Dykhouse if he actually did step up and buy them out. There's a booster that puts his money where his mouth is. I know there's several people that take shots at him, but at least he backs the program. We would be blessed to have a few Danas on our side.

I'm am going to say that is not even close to enough said, as I don't have the foggiest idea what you are talking about or why you said it.

Seriously, as much time and print that is spent on the Jackrabbits, you should rename the board as something like Jackrabbits board south.

Yeah, sure, and you can rename that remodeled cow pasture the Fargo Dome South since there are more Bison fans that show up at your stadium than Jack fans.

I know there's several people that take shots at him, but at least he backs the program. We would be blessed to have a few Danas on our side. Your guess was correct. The stadium capacity is 19340. The tickets holders who went through the turnstyles: 18130. My guess is there were approximately 1000 Bison fans who were pretty quiet most of the game (I took pictures). There were some empty seats in the stadium -- some of those seats were empty because the season ticket holders decided to watch the game indoors from the Dykhouse Center on the north end of the stadium...not sure how many did that but my guess is about 150 to 200. I had heard the corporate buy of tickets was only 1000. The word circulating was Larson Manufacturing purchased the 1000 tickets. Many Jacks season-ticket holders purchased extra tickets. I have four season tickets and picked up four additional tickets that were used by SDSU fans who attended the game. (You can do a google search and locate a column Mike McFeely did on the Conspiracy theories some NDSU fans were trying to circulate on the subject of the SDSU control of its tickets. The Jacks beat a good team today and I'd sure like to see the Coyotes go to the FargoDome next Saturday and do the same. That'd be sweet and I'd borrow and bend a comment made by some of the Bison fans: The Coyotes own the FargoDome. Certainly I have an ulterior motive: a USD win in Fargo would cause a real log-jam of MVFC teams having two losses. But, while a have a lot of respect for the NDSU coaching staff and team and 95 per cent of their fans, there is a small group of Bison fans...well, you can finish that statement. With four minutes left on the game clock, Bison fans in the NE corner of the stadium started leaving. I was surprised: I've seen some amazing things happen in football games with four minutes on the clock. Anyway, because one can be assured there will be Bison fans who deny their fans were leaving early, I have a video on my phone that proves otherwise.

Welll, crap. Based on the outcome of all the games today, it was basically the worst possible scenario. Not that I'm terribly surprised that 4 out of 5 underdogs won in the valley. That's pretty typical. I'm just stunned that the Coyotes' improbable run hit a wall simultaneously as the Jacks had a crowning achievement.
At this point I really couldn't care less about the ticket strategy up north, but I started this thread, so I'll at least give a comment.
I still haven't seen the pictures of empty seats, but it sounds like there were at least a thousand. Not a sellout, but not an obvious smoking gun of deception. Somewhere in the middle.
The Jacks' win and Coyotes' loss makes any smack talking impossible at this moment, anyway. To be continued. We will settle this on the field in two weeks.
I'll be there. Bring your cowbells.

When I saw a glimpe of the game on direct tv I saw a mainly packed house. The Coyotes have a long ways to go to catch the Jackrabbits when it comes to fan interest. On average the Jacks probably average about 5 thousand real fans in the seats more then the Yotes.

I can agree that the DJD was not packed and that there was a large stream of bison fans leaving at the 4 minute mark. I know that there 3 season ticket holders that did not make it to Brookings for the game due to outside forces. I also know that a family of 5 did not show up thinking it was too cold for smaller children. There were also many student seats empty for the game. It was surprisingly warmer in the stadium than the tailgating area. The Southerly breeze did not bring the bite inside DJD. The game WAS a sell out. There was no way to buy a ticket at the box office. This ought to be considered a successful event from the viewpoint of the stadium management.
