Any word on starters for season opener? Not sure if anyone saw a box score from Sunday’s secret scrimmage with Minnesota.

No and no. Is there a box score?

Secret scrimmages bug me. Does anyone know why WBB didn't have an exhibition game?

As far as starters I think some speculation is in order. It can definitely be argued that the best 5 players on the team are all either guards or swing players that are combo guard/forwards.
I would think for sure Alison Arens and Bradley are shoe-ins
My next best guess would be that Caitlin Duffy will get one spot as well being that she is a senior and a very good carry-over from the dome days.
The Coyotes need to have something inside and Liveringhouse is as close to a post as I can think of as she plays very well inside for her size. She has never played starter minutes so she would need that type of a gas tank to pull it off.
I guess if I had to guess I would go with the following without a ton of confidence.
A Arens Bradley McKeever Caitlin Duffy Liveringhouse (with her being first to the bench for Frederick)
If the New Mexico transfer would be eligible she would certainly start at the center spot even though Plitzuweit doesn't necessarily need to have positions.
Ciara Duffy or Trimboli would be the first in to replace one of the other starters if I have someone wrong. Just based on the little bit of play ground basketball during the exhibition last week I will guess that Korngable might be one of the first freshman to play and is my personal favorite to be the best of the incoming class.
The Coyotes are probably going to play a 4 guard offense quite often this year, especially since their rotation seems to contain about 7 guards in it.
I see the following players receiving 15 or more minutes of PT with the top 6 possibly over 20 minutes.
A Arens Bradley Caitlin Duffy Ciara Duffy Trimboli McKeever Liveringhouse
These I can see with 5 or more minutes per game
Federick (10-12 minutes) one of the freshman TBD (my guess is Korngable but just a wild guess) (8 minutes) Bonar (6-7 minutes)
I have a hard time believing that the bench won't go at least 10 deep. The Coyotes should have the depth to really play a high energy high tempo game.
Get ready for bombs away this year. I can see any of the following players being able to shoot 35% plus from deep.
Bradley A Arens Duffy Duffy Trimboli McKeever surprise player - again my wild card guess is Korngable.
The NBA is evolving into a game where the successful teams tend to be able to shoot a lot and shoot well from the 3 point arc and the college shot is an easier make. The way kids practice now days an open 3 is about as good of a shot as an 8 foot jumper in the lane with a little traffic.

Secret scrimmages bug me. Does anyone know why WBB didn't have an exhibition game? They didn't last year either. Dawn's preference to play a secret scrimmage instead? Secret scrimmage doesn't bother me. Chance for coaches to try whatever they want against a quality opponent, no having to answer for a loss if that's the result. Men didn't blow USF out and we've got the Augustana guy here wondering why.

The Jacks Women barely beat Northern State by double digits. The Coyote Men same with USF. There is nothing to worry about, well maybe 1% to worry about. LOL. Whatever happens in football good or bad it will be nice to have both of these basketball teams to fall back on for support. Both will be a treat to watch this year.

The girls will benefit from the high level of competition, IMO. Just like a tough nonconference schedule.

I agree with most of CF's post but I'll guess Kunzer is the frosh that gets minutes.

If Ciara Duffy isn't starting I'll buy Coyote Fan season tickets for the rest of his life.

I saw somewhere that it is Lamb who will get playing time this year.

Frankly, I'll be pretty surprised if any freshman gets a ton of run this year. Unless one of them is actually 6-2.

I remember Coach P talking about the players having to adjust their play to having a smaller roster this year, and mentioned Ciara specifically as someone that will be playing a little more of a post role at times. Makes sense with her size. I can see her being a really dangerous weapon with her all-around game in her 2nd year in this system. I also remember her talking about being careful with Trimboli and Duffy (sr.) in terms of giving them too many minutes because of their injury history. Also, I gotta think that naming starters is somewhat arbitrary when you are substituting liberally, using your depth to keep players fresh and playing fast. I can't wait to see how Coach P's version of an up-tempo game looks like.

The idea that a 6-1 kid who started all 32 games last year isn't going to start this year is an interesting one.

So assuming Ciara does start what is the line up in the senario. I agree with the idea that it doesn't really matter who will start or not. There are at least 7 players that should be in line for 20 minutes a game. I always envisioned Dawn wanting depth and playing a deep bench so they Coyotes can maximize the energy available for the entire 40 minute game. It will also pay off in February and March where the shallower bench tired out last year.

Arens, Bradley, Ciara Duffy and Liveringhouse are locked in, I'd guess. I'd guess the fifth starter is Bonar or Caitlin Duffy depending on what the staff wants/needs.
