Final 73-68 South Dakota over Creighton I was very happy with the performance from the Coyotes tonight. They were scrappy and the D was definitely head and shoulders above the Iowa State game. I hope I am not leaving out anyone but the players that stood out to me tonight were A Arens, Liveringhouse and McKeever. Arens had a very timely three pointer just when Creighton cut it to a one possession game. McKeever had an athletic steal where she reached into the air to swipe the ball away. Liveringhouse is really good right now with her inside/outside game. I am proud of her. She has been a good soldier for 3 years coming off the bench and now as a senior she is starting and looking as good as ever. She has earned her success, no doubt. I really thought the Coyotes did great with the ball denial defense. I thought Creighton seemed to get more benefit of the doubt with the stripes. They got many calls and it seemed like towards the middle of the game they were either traveling or close to it on just about every possession. They also got some favorable out of bounds calls as well. In the 4th quarter it didn't seen like the Jays were living on that edge as often with the traveling. The late free throws were solid with most of them going to Allison. She missed one but I can't think of any others missed down the stretch. Pre game I thought the D would be the key and it certainly was. Without it the Coyotes might not win tonight. I thought the Coyotes actually were unlucky to win by only 5. I felt they were 12-15 points better tonight. Dawn's comments on the post game She said she was happy with the D for most of the night and happy with the lack of turnovers. She said Creighton is known for their offense but they make it tough for opponents to score. She thought the Yotes played a fun style of basketball. Dawn happy with Kate so far and said she has played hard and efficiently. She has tough defensive assignments as well and much of her growth is on defense. Feels fortunate to come out on top. Talked about Wichita and their big and good post player. I agree with pretty much everything here. I think it was defense that really was the thing that changed from the Iowa State game. The only thing that I've been more nervous about and maybe disagree is the play of Arens. Besides the last 10 free throws, she had only 8 points. I'm hoping this is just a first part of the year fluke, but she hasn't been able to get into the lane like last year, which worries me. And when she's not doing driving, she struggles to pass the ball. Against good teams, we'll need her to get into the lane in order to win. I can understand your opinion on Arens. I thought she really played well when she was needed tonight and did have a couple of nice slashing drives to the hoop. She set a very high standard last year and teams will probably put their best defender on her so she is now going to need to adjust. I really though Ciara had a tough time inside tonight. She does well with getting inside but when teams collapse on her she seems to get lost. I think she is a bit too slow getting inside giving teams time to adjust. With Ciara I would like to see her receive a pass where she can just make one quick move to the basket instead of all the dribbling it has been taking for her to get her shot. I appreciate her aggressiveness and would rather have that problem than for her to be too timid. Ciara is a nice player to have and she has some decent length as well.

The Coyotes offense just seems off tonight. They don't seem to have the same look as last year and the Coyotes are not really forcing tempo much either. Trimboli is out with an illness and Dawn said it didn't look like a long term illness. It's kind of wierd that she would say that if it was just a cold or flu or something. Who knows what the deal is with Caitlin as I don't think she played. Without having Caitlin and Jasmine isn't all that strange but isn't that great of a situation. I really think the Coyote D has ruled the day. Without it I think Creighton is probably up by 10. I really like McKeever in the game. I just think the Coyotes are a better team with her in there. Allison looks pretty good tonight as she is back to slashing towards the basket which is her bread and butter. For those watching on ESPN 3, try Coyote Live as the color and crispness is actually better. I never thought I would say that as Coyote Vision used to be pretty bad. I second this! I prefer watching that feed over ESPN3 or Midco any day, no offense to Jay or Kelly. It's awesome that us fans can see every home game, and for free nonetheless. It is very much appreciated. Anyone with any connections in the A.D. know who I can send a thank you email to?

Caitlin played 5 minutes total and took 1 shot. Not sure if she's still working her way back from her injuries or ?. The two freshmen Chloe and Monica totaled 32 minutes which is great for them to get experience against a very good team!

After listening to Coach P's post game comments again, the rotation of starters is making more sense.
Jaycee didn't start the first game because of illness (insert Caitlin, although Lamb ended up playing more minutes). Jasmine didn't start the second game because of illness (insert Mad Mac). MacKeever played point in order to free up AA to not have to do that.
I'm going to assume that Trimboli will likely play the 1 when she is healthy, or maybe Caitlin?
Still doesn't answer why so few minutes for Caitlin. I wish someone would ask that question. Maybe they were told not to.

I’m sure she will have a great discussion about all of the players. I’m looking forward to hearing more about the two freshmen that are seeing extended playing time.

Hopefully someone will ask her about Caitlin too if there's a Q & A....

Unfortunately I missed Lunch today. But I just worry, and may have said it in another thread, that Caitlin will struggle in this system. She certainly won’t play point guard. She is more of a shooter, and one that doesn’t create her own shot if memory serves me correctly. It might take her some time to get in the flow and my guess is they are using non-conf to figure out rotations etc.
