Tonight in the Summit there are 3 games.
Alabama State at SDSU Denver at Colorado Omaha at New Mexico
ASU is 0-2 so I would think the Jacks may have an easy time with them. It will be interesting to see how Denver and Omaha do in their big road tests this evening.

The Jacks lost to Wyoming today 77-65 at the Cayman's classic. Daum apparently wasn't feeling very well but when the Coyotes are without Mooney such as the second half vs Grambling they didn't miss a beat and actually thrived without him. The Coyotes are definitely strength in numbers.
So far the Jacks got crushed by Kansas and lost to Wyoming as well. The Coyotes on the other hand played TCU down to the wire, beat Bowling Green on the road and crushed a Grambling team that had Iowa on the ropes for quite awhile.
I would say act one of this season definitely favors the Coyotes. Stay hungry Yotes.

Daum didn't feel well, huh. I have to ask, cramps? Actually he has a case of temporary deafness for having to hear all those loud whistles from the refs constantly blowing them from calling all those fouls in favor of Daum.

SDSU just "cramped" Iowas style in the Caymans by beating them 80-72.

When did Kirk Ferentz start coaching the basketball team? Turds are supposed to be his specialty.

SDSU just "cramped" Iowas style in the Caymans by beating them 80-72. So Grambling St. taking Iowa to the wire wasn't an aberration. Iowa is just lousy - lost to Louisiana-Lafayette yesterday, now this.

That's a good win for SDSU, especially with Daum appearing to provide very little. No way SDSU wins a game like that last year with Daum having that type of game. Not sure what's going on with Iowa, they had almost everyone returning from last year's team, they were expecting to be a sure tournament team this year. They've gotten boff to a slow start but it's still a good win for state, our conference needed that as we haven't had a lot of good non conference wins so far this year.

I am all for the importance of the non-conference and conference games (certainly want USD to win them all and represent well) - but above all else the main thing is how the SLT goes. It was a great accomplishment to win the SL regular season last year - that is tough to do. It still didn't get our program the type of exposure winning the SLT would by giving us a spot in the NCAA tournament. In a one-bid league that is what matters.

You can't deny the Jacks that it was a good win but it wasn't a great win. One could argue that the Coyotes had a better performance at TCU losing in the last minute than the Jacks beating Iowa on a neutral court. That certainly raises the Jacks early season profile.

I have hopes of winning the regular and postseason Summit titles this year. That is what the goal should be.

It's always a good win beating Iowa. I really don't know much about them this year. I do know they lost Peter Jok to graduation who was most of their offense last year.

One thing that would really help the Coyotes would be to be in the opposite bracket as the Jacks for the Summit Tourney. I think if the Coyotes could have played the Jacks in the finals instead of the semi's I think the task of coming back from a big deficit for SDSU would have been more difficult to complete just because of the legs being just a little more rubbery. Having good depth will be import at the tourney. It seems like the league was so close last year that the teams weren't necessarily as good as their seed. The Jacks were obviously not the 4th best team last year by the time tourney tourney came around. They were the 2nd best team going in.
