TCU 68 USD 66 with 3:52 left. Simpson just missed a go ahead 3.

Well. Team had its chance to win this one. Think we could have played better, and to still be within 1 point of a team of this caliber in the final minute says great things about USD.

76-71 TCU wins but the Coyotes were within 1 in the last minute. Are moral victories ok for just one night? That was a damn good performance against a very good basketball team. Very poised effort as the team even after being down by 11 fought back to get it back to a one possession game.
TCU is picked to finish 3rd in the Big 12 and that is saying something in that conference. That is like saying that they are almost the caliber of an Oklahoma or maybe a West Virginia. I think maybe they are a tick below those types of teams but being picked 3rd is being picked 3rd.

Mooney had another great performance (he is the best player in the league), but how about Hagedoorn tonight? 8/18 for 22 points including 3/6 from 3. That's very promising. He should have grown a beard a long time ago.

Having Mooney is definitely nice. It is a good thing other programs missed out on him while Smith was snatching him up. The Summit teams almost have no choice but to double him. As long as the other guys are ready to produce someone should always been open. The Coyotes are going to pull an upset soon over a power 5 program. Ideally wouldn't it be nice if that win came on some neutral floor on or around the 3rd weekend of March.
I will say that Mooney is clearly becoming the second best player in the league. So now that football season is wrapping up and all everyone else talked about was a certain special football player at USD not being able to make it through the football season. Is it now our turn to make the same claim about a certain basketball player up north a few miles. My guess is deafness from all the whistles going off around him for all the bogus fouls he draws. Since it is Jackrabbit week I just had to get that one in.

TCU plays Omaha Monday night. Will have to keep an eye on that game to see how a fellow SL member does against them. Might give us a little insight into how good each team really is.

Loved the TCU color guy's comment about Mooney, " There are so many athletic guards in the Big 12, but I think he could get minutes in this league". Really? Don't think too much you might hurt yourself.

Saw the game on FSN-2 and the Coyotes definitely had their chances. I hope going down the road we can get a third player, besides Mooney and "Hagerdorn" (sic) to step up their game, especially from 3-point range.
There's no quit in these Coyotes. Let's go!

Great game overall Yotes!! Obviously the Coyotes had some opportunities but couldn't quite finish. Earlier in the game I though they tried to double team too much leaving wide open 3s or easy baskets but over all great D against a very athletic team that can also shoot! Fun game to watch! GO YOTES!!!

Almost pulled it off last night. Granted that TCU is a pretty good defensive team compared to what we will play all year, we need that second level of guys to step up the scoring. Waiting for someone to emerge as that goto 3rd guy behind hags and mooney.
I really like what I see from Simpson. Last night not a great example scoring wise, but his handle is so smooth. Even from last year to this, he has visibly put in a lot of work and he has a good looking outside stroke. I think he needs to attack the basket first and look for 3's as his secondary scoring option. He had 2-3 great drives to the hoop last night.
More armstrong/Tyler peterson please.

Overall we have to be pleased by last night, though we all hate moral victories. Definitely need more offensive balance, but it will come. Defensive effort is a prerequisite for Coach Smith and that will always be. Looking forward to game Saturday night against Grambling!
