Nobody but Trimboli and McKeever were ready to play. SFA exposed USD's weaknesses, particularly without Duffy (you can't replace her ball handling, versatility and shooting at her size). The uncomfortable fact that people are going to have to come to grips with is that Allison Arens can't be this team's best player if it's going to reach its potential. Agreed with the above. I think having a solid post player in Fogg last year and Duffy playing the point allowed Arens to do what she does best, slash to the basket. But if you remember from last year, after a weak non-conference schedule, she really really struggled late in conference play. I agree that she probably can't be the best player on a "great" team, but I do think the coaches aren't putting her in a position to be successful. She shouldn't have the ball in her hands. She should be put in isolation or wing driving situations. She looks completely lost at times when the ball is in her hands too much. But again, I don't think that's her fault. She's a natural scorer, but doesn't see the floor that well.

Some quick hits on SFA notable stats: turnovers: SFA is getting 12 steals per game---- 12 vs USDSFA has a +9.3 turnover margin --- +10 vs USDDefense: SFA is allowing 37% FG shooting---- allowed 40.5%SFA is allowing 25% 3-PT shooting-- allowed 40%SFA is allowing 55 points/game------ allowed 55 ptsOffense: 18.5 assists/game-------- 13 vs USD22.9 FT attempts/game-- 38 FT attempts vs USD80.5 points/game-------- 77 pts vs USD29.4% 3-pt shooting WOOF-------38.9% vs USD20 personal fouls / game WOOF--18 vs USDWow. SFA basically played us exactly like they have played the other teams on their schedule. That puts us in the company of perennial powerhouses Coppin State, Howard Payne, Alabama State, Alcorn State and Central Baptist College..... Let's hope this game was an aberration.

Her athleticism and strength and FT abilities are always going to make her a useful player. She just needs to be focused on straight-line drives, hitting the offensive glass and getting to the line. You reach a point of diminishing returns if she's got a lot more than that on her plate.
