Weber State is giving James Madison quite the scare only down to them 10-7 with 4:00 to go in the half. I think we better be cheering for JMU because we don't want a particular college to potentially have another home game.

Weber State just threw a deep TD to go up on James Madison 28-20 pending the PAT.
The game is on ESPN2

Weber State just scored on a 35 yard touchdown pass with 3:14 to go to go ahead 28-20 after the PAT. We are 3 minutes from the road to Frisco going through Brookings SD. How does that sound to Coyote fans.

Not so fast Rabbit fans. JMU has already responded to get within 28-26 with 2 point conversion to come.

James Madison wins it with a 45 yard field goal at the horn. The Jacks or New Hampshire will go to JMU for the semi-final. I think the Jacks have a decent shot to beat JMU to be honest. They play good on the road.

The Jacks are easily handing New Hampshire. If the goal is to prevent the Jacks from winning the whole enchilada than it is best that we keep James Madison and NDSU at the party. JMU received a wake up call against Weber and they will have to be much better if they are to defeat SDSU. The Jacks have probably had the easiest path to the semi's so far but the patsy opponents will end today.

I just tuned in to see the goal line stand Jacks seem to have this well in hand. Maybe NH has just run out of gas? I thought they would have a better game

What I learned about the FCS playoffs is that home field advantage is worth gold. Convinced the Coyotes would be in the semis if they had played their games at home.
Tough to go on the road and win. Might get a win here or there but winning game after game after game is too tall of a task.

Can anyone remember the last team to win the title without a home playoff game? I'm not even sure how to look that up. It should be noted the Bison did lose at the Fabulous Fargo Dome last year in the finals.

The only other "homeless" teams to even make it to the championship came in the 1978-80 seasons when 1AA was formed and only had 4 teams qualify for its playoffs. Florida A&M won the first 1AA title in 1978 without hosting the semifinal, so they would be the only other team to win a title without a home game. Playing at home is indeed worth gold.

aldewitt--slight correction--the Bison did lose at home last year in Fargo to James Madison but it was in the semi finals not finals. Finals have been in Frisco, TX for a number of years.

In the Coyotes case playing at home is definitely gold. Keep in mind when it comes to the playoffs any time a seed is still alive and are playing another seed or an unseeded team than they will always been the better team in the eyes of the committee so that has much to do with the results as well. The better team in the playoffs is usually the home team so that plays into it. A team like Western Illinois really doesn't benefit that much from their home field whereas a team like USD or NDSU benefits from it a lot.
Once the Coyotes lost to UNI that pretty much established that they were not going to be at home much if at all for a playoff run. The late season slump put them in a much more difficult predicament. That is why when a team has a chance such as when the Coyotes were 6-0 that is when it is as important as ever for them to play their best football. Whatever the reason they took the foot off the gas petal for the season and never really got it back going again after that. It can probably go back to when the Yotes lost to Illinois State as well because the mystique kind of disappeared at the point. People didn't want to believe it and many didn't consider the loss to Illinois State as a real big deal. As it turned out it was a huge deal. Every game in an 11 game schedule is crucial.
