Did UNL negotiate a bulk discount or something? I wish we were playing them. Closest FBS school to Vermillion, biggest name in college football in our part of the country. Hopefully we can get Iowa, Minnesota, or Wisconsin scheduled instead.

There are already some games scheduled, but I am amazed that some teams will schedule a game out 11 years.
USD future FBS games: 2018: Kansas St 2019: Oklahoma 2020: Iowa St 2021: Kansas

I can't blame Nebraska for opting for SDSU. They have been a consistently strong program and other than NDSU would give the Huskers the biggest test of all the midwest FCS programs. It is nice that Nebraska is putting themselves up for a test from a FCS program and not afraid of a loss to a FCS team like many programs are. If the Coyotes could put together a few seasons in a row of being a serious contender in the FCS than I would think Nebraska would consider SD a more worthy foe.
I actually like the FBS games such as Bowling Green anyway which would give the Coyotes a realistic chance of getting a win. If the Coyotes had not scheduled Bowling Green and scheduled a program like Iowa they would probably not have made the playoffs this year. If the goal is the playoffs that will be accomplished easier if the FBS game is winnable such as the MAC or maybe Sun Belt. Oklahoma is the prettier opponent but other than money and exposure it won't help the team make the playoffs.
Nebraska is not going to be down forever. Their fans are too passionate and have high expectations and can only handle losing football so long. Odds are that the Huskers will be much better when they play the Jacks and the game for SDSU will probably end up being a loss and won't help their playoff chances.

SDSU will be getting over 500k per game. That's keep money, not share money. I'm guessing Nebraska and Oklahoma pay more for a win than KSU ISU or Kansas. And a LOT more than Bowling Green. That's the real reason to schedule those games. I wonder what we will make for each of our FBS games?

Maybe that is why Nebraska signed up for 3 games.

I think $575k was what we got from Oregon, which is the highest we've gotten but not by much (I think Cal was $550k before they cancelled).
What even goes into these numbers? I'm sure the FBS schools could pay a bit less and we would still accept.

I'm not sure how they arrive at the amount, but basically they justify it as compensation for not having to do a home-and-home reciprocation. They get the benefit of the $$ from the gate, and we don't. I'm guessing its negotiated somehow. There's probably a "market value" of some kind? We might take less, but if another school would pay us more, then maybe we wouldn't take less.

With Bob’s recruiting prowess in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois, it would be cool to see us schedule one of those schools including Northwestern again. I’d be game for Iowa City.

Yeah, we got a great deal from Cal cancelling. Very fortunate there.
