www.goyotes.com/news/2018/1/11/womens-basketball-coyotes-look-for-4-0-start-with-fort-wayne-saturday.aspxHere's the link to the Athletic Department's preview. Fort Wayne (4-13, 1-3) @ USD (12-5, 3-0) Fort Wayne (RPI 302/Sag 311) USD (RPI 105/Sag 101) Saturday, Jan 13 - 1:00 PM - SCSC aka "Red Square" aka "The Den" aka "[insert witty nickname here]" Yankton's Heartland Humane Society will have adoptable kittens and puppies on site for your kids to guilt you into adopting. Maybe cuddling a shelter puppy will help raise the spirits of any visiting Dons fans after their souls are crushed. Also, I'm calling it - someone's getting peed on. Don't say you weren't warned.

I'm unsure whether our recent hot shooting is the anomaly or the early seasons struggles were.

3 point shooting can be a lot about shot selection as much as just how accurate a team is overall. The Coyotes proved last year when they had the ball movement and took good looks from outside they could hit them. The ball movement is much better lately and the 3 point shots are being setup much better as of late. If a three is a wide open look there is no reason that a team couldn't shoot over 40-50% consistently. If the shots are rushed or guarded tightly the percentage could easily sink below 30%.

I wasn't able to watch the game, but listened to the post-game recap and interview with Coach P. More than 2k fans came out with a big student section! Nice job on an NFL playoff weekend!
Sounds like the Yotes had a game that was right in line with what they have. Been doing lately, stat-wise. Shot over60%, forced 22 turnovers, three players in double figures, high rebound margin, great defense.
The funny thing is that they maintained those characteristics with the bench players getting significant minutes. To me that points to system and team culture. Buy-in. Go Yotes!

That is awesome that there were over 2K at the game on Saturday as the reported attendance was 2016. That is a really good showing for people in the seats for a Women's game against a team that isn't one of the better teams in the conference. I checked out the highlight video as shown below and it definitely confirms that large student section and overall large crowd. Take a look below at the big crowd that showed up for the game. I would have to say the crowd was a bit under reported for this one. I looked at video from Frost Arena for their afternoon game and I would have to say the SCSC probably had close to as many and possibly even a few more than showed up at Frost . 2793 was listed as the attendance in Brookings. The links below show the games and overall size of the crowds. www.goyotes.com/index.aspxgojacks.com/news/2018/1/11/mens-basketball-jacks-stay-unbeaten-in-summit-league-play.aspx

Come on CF, at least if you intend to make things up, don't provide the evidence that shows just how wrong you are. USD seem to have decided to count "tickets sold" much like ORU. There were less then a 1,000 people in the seats for that women's game. 2K? Funny stuff.

Seriously CF. I only mentioned the attendance in my post because Coach P specifically mentioned it in her interview. She called out the better-than-average attendance, and was appreciative. Whether there were actually 2016 butts in seats is irrelevant. The fans showed up for this game, and deserve some kudos. Stop fixating. And there was no reason to even mention the Jacks' attendance.
And Jackhole 29: pull your head out. SDSU counts sold tickets rather than just gate. Just like everyone else. Do a higher percentage of season ticket-holders show up for more games in Brookings than at USD? Perhaps. So what. Its not like there were any empty seats at the Dyke for a sellout, or anything.
Overly hyper-sensitive Jacks fans seem to just appear like betelgeuse once any mildly disparaging comment or post is made about the universally beloved Jackrabbits. Its almost as if someone is constantly monitoring the internet for Jacks Haters. Someone should do a study. Start trash-talking the Jacks on a small, obscure message board for a team with no connection to SDSU whatsoever. Within a day you will have a response.

I mean really, get a life. Just stick to bashing us on the Orwellian bunny board and deal with your insecurities there because you add nothing here.

some people don't get the sarcasm in my post. I was gonna lay off the whole attendance thing for awhile but when dawn said there were 2K at the game I just had to check because that didn't seem correct to me. dawn is a good coach but her counting needs work. just by looking at the crowds in the two videos it's a no wonder that jacks coaches stay as long as they do and yotes coaches tend to leave at the first good opportunity. for fan following their is no comparison. What exactly do the Yotes rival SDSU in because I can't think of much.

[...]dawn is a good coach but her counting needs work. [...] I'm sure that Coach P, unlike you, has a pretty good idea when there are more fans or less fans at a game, as compared to the average. She attends every game. For Christ sake, why would she waste her time coming up with an "estimate" of her own, or actually count heads? ? She was a little busy kicking the snot out of a Summit League team. I'm sure that when she said over 2k, she was looking at the box score. You are completely missing the f@@cking point, as usual. The official count vs. butts in seats means absolutely nothing to the team. They know when it "feels" like they have more fan support or less. For the Fort Wayne game, they felt it. End of story. Quit nitpicking. When this team travels to Denver, Omaha, Fort Wayne, Western Illinois, etc, there is a noticeable, severe, drop-off in attendance. Most of those schools' fans couldn't give two flying f___ks about women's basketball, even when they are good teams. Let's at least give the Vermillionites some credit for supporting the team as much as they do.
