Shhhhh! Don't tell the Jacks. They'll lobby for ESPN to fix its "mistake"...

It's probably just a computer thing. We are leading the conference so the computer puts us in. The person creating this likely has no idea. Is SDSU really an at large team? Would we have a shot at one?

SDSU has a chance atban at-large bid. Their RPI is much better than anyone else in the league.

If the bunnies were able to run the table in Summit play and then get beaten out in the finals of the Summit tourney, they might, might get an at large, but I'd be surprised. It's my understanding that the committee works with the mindset of looking for reasons to put P5 conference teams in and reasons to keep mid-majors out. If it ever would happen that the Summit received two bids, it'll most likely take place in the women's tourney before the men's though. Too much money involved would be my cynical reason for thinking this way.

No men's team in the Summit is even going to sniff that.

Bunnies have a good shot at an at large if they don't drop a few head scratchers in league play. The media is starting to give the Summit more respect in WBB as they should. I felt last year SDSU should have gotten an at large and USD should have gotten an at large the year before. USD has a lower RPI, the only way they would possibly get an at large this year is if they would sweep the conference slate including two over the jacks.

Pretty sure the two wins, and two last second losses to strong programs on their home (well Baylor were basically at home), plus the many many NCAA appearances over a long period of time, top 25 rankings, high RPI, many top 20 wins, and the ability to bring top teams to Brookings is why SDSU's women receive so much respect. But whatever makes you sleep better at night.

But whatever makes you sleep better at night. The Jacks tough schedule doesn't make them any better from it when it comes to the Summit League. They have gone three consecutive conference seasons without a regular season title. You can only take so much from the tourney as it is in front a mostly pro SDSU crowd. If you flipped that crowd and had 6K Western Illinois fans screaming at the top of their lungs I am sure the results would be much different. The regular season champ is generally the best team from a conference because it results from a fair schedule where everyone plays home and home for all games. Rabbit fans are unable to think objectively and probably won't even admit that a regular season champion is the best team from any given conference and is probably the best way to competitively decide which team is the most deserving to go to the NCAA tourney. I will be the first to admit that the Coyote Women probably don't win the WNIT without the home cooking. A packed dome was an incredible advantage just as a packed SCSC would have been. The Yotes did have to win at Minnesota so at least they had to play one road game. That never happens for the Jacks when it comes tourney time.

You're totally delusional if you think any basketball fan north of Watertown and south of Beresford even knows or cares about any of this, but that's not surprising seeing as you've never come across as too bright. Mid major women's basketball isn't exactly on the national radar and South Dakota is somewhat unique in how strong the support is for high school girl's and college women's hoops...but keep hanging out in fantasyland where you're truly legends in your own mind. I'm sure it's much nicer than reality.

This is hilarious, mainly because he wasn't even dissing the Jacks' teams AT ALL with this comment, and yet it is perceived as a dis by hyper-sensitive Jacks Fan. Good stuff, lol. Re-read the post. He was simply using the example of the WNIT championship as an example of how the women's teams have a better shot at an at-large than the men's teams. The Jacks weren't mentioned or even hinted at! Classic.

How dare we mention an accomplishment of our women's basketball team in our USD Women's Basketball Forum without an obligatory tip of the hat to Jacks women's basketball! That was rude.
