Right now, guests can freely see the board, but if I change that, they have to register to see the board, let alone post. I am going to leave that up to you guys, because it could affect site traffic, but it could also lead to more members. Your guys call, since this is a democratic society, right Coyote Fan

I voted no, let guests see the discussions.
It's kind of a "loss leader" thing. If people see discussions they may be more interested in engaging in them, and signing up to participate. If they can't see the discussions, you miss that public relations/publicity/promotional opportunity.
Plus, lurkers abound on the Internet. They're not bad people. They're just shy.

I don't know why you would ever restrict people from viewing the board. That seems to be going backwards in an effort to get more traffic on the site. Sometimes there may be a troll (like myself) from time to time that may post some off the wall things but I think it's most important to keep as many people coming to visit the board as possible. I am willing to put up with some garbage posts if it means I can read more meaningfull posts.

And actually, it took over an hour for the validation e-mail to arrive in my e-mail box so I could actually post, so registration is not necessarily a trivial amount of time . . .

My earlier comments were made with the impression a non registered guest could view the board but not post. Bisonville, Sdsufans, Panthernation and Siouxsports all allow non registered guests to see the board but not post. Again just me, but I would like to see the same here. It is the best of all worlds.

I echo PierreYote. I would like to see people have to register to post, but I also want guests to see the board. If we can't have it both ways then let them post without registering.

I agree with PierreYOte and Yote53. Let them see the board, but not post unless register.

I'm not seeing any option on this particular type of board that allows for viewing but no unregistered posting (I wouldn't be shocked if I'm overlooking something). With that understanding, I'm back to my original position i.e. let unregistered folks view and post, and if behavior becomes an issue, we can block IPs.

Yeah, that's the same thing I am seeing Yotemeal. So I figured let the masses decide lol.

Since this isn't my board or my team's board, I will pass on making a vote on this question. However, I will comment on my experiences. I frequently go to our opponents boards. Some are very friendly about welcoming guests representing their opponents (us). However, I cannot recall ever being allowed to post without registering. It is also a major pain where I sit if I cannot read posts without registering. Besides, I have found that those boards usually aren't very good anyway -- being so restrictive and all. I have registered on a number of opponents boards, just like I have here, and enjoy an occasional discussion with their fans.
Let the Coyote fans who post here decide!

Within the next 24 hours, I am going to turn on the "guests must register" option with this board. In order to participate on the board, you are going to have to sign up.
