What was with the Leathrneck flopping? Several times towards the end of the game, they would run close to the Yote guard dribbling the ball up the court, and just fall down. Thankfully, the refs didn’t buy it either.... 😂😂⛹️♀️

Thankfully, the refs didn’t buy it either.... 😂😂⛹️♀️ So that implies that they were at least trying on defense. Credit Western Illinois for their college effort. They did a little more than just the Ole defense that I would have expected. For this game I didn't think the officiating did the Coyotes any favors tonight either. I am not complaining about it but the purple gang can't go home crying foul in that aspect.

Thank goodness it was kid's night, or the student section would be completely empty. (other than the band) Because all of the student-athletes were on the other side

Bottom line: during their comeback WIU went on a 5/6 run from the 3 point line. That can make up a lot of ground in a short time. Bottomer line: they finished shooting 8/12 from 3 in the last third of the game. That's a lot of points in not that many possessions. Bottomest line: They're a dangerous team that's never really out of a game. They are more than capable of beating anyone, anytime and they proved that last season.

After holding WIU to 27 points in the first half the Lady Yotes gave up 54 in the 2nd to let the Leathernecks make a game of it. WIU is a potent O team but the Coyotes gave up way to many easy layups especially in the 2nd half. The good news in that when the game tightened up the Lady Yotes gutted out some points and stops to put the game away. Was also a nice move by Coach P to go to a zone some in the 4th to slow down Western. Good lesson learned on the need for defensive intensity for the whole game.

Another difference is the crispness of the Yotes’ passing. They mix it up - some bounce passes, some overhead passes. It is very fun to watch because from one play to the next you don’t know what they’re going to do, Who they are going to pass to. They are all so unselfish with the ball. True teammates. Here's a quote from Coach P in the post-game that agrees with you: Q: What's that tell you about your team, when your leading scorer (Alison) takes six shots, but helps you in all kinds of other ways, and you STILL put up 92 points?Well, it's a very selfless group that we have. They want to do what it takes to be successful, whatever that means. I think the kid that probably defines that better than anyone in our program right now is Jasmine Trimboli. 'Jas, we need you to come off the bench......Jas, we need you to start....Jas, we need you to play a guard... Jas, we need you to play a post spot.... We need you to defend all different spots on the court.... " So I think that because of the mentality, and the way that she has approached it has been a contagious attitude. Not that the other kids DIDN"T have that, but I think that she really exemplifies the kind of kids that we have.

Trimboli was a huge loss to them last season, but a more battle tested group getting her back this year has been very beneficial.

What the Coyotes are proving is that they are not only excelling but just killing it with their lineups that don't include a true center. Really they don't have a true center eligible to play this year, or at least one that play significant minutes. It really comes down to just putting the best basketball players on the court. When we get the New Mexico transfer will that be considered a bonus or a set back. I am sure it will be a bonus and will certainly give the Coyotes some more flexibility. What I do like is that not having a center often forces the opponent to play small which in turn open up the driving lanes which have been taken advantage of so nicely by the Yotes.
Where there's a will there's a way. The Coyotes definitely have the "will" part showing up quite often.
