Statistical Match-up with Denver tonight:
Denver is the best offense in the league, most Kills/set, highest hitting %, assists, etc. while USD is in the upper half in those areas.
Denver and USD are the two best serving teams in the league.
Denver and USD have the two best defenses in the league and it isn't close. I think the "Opponent hitting %" stat (can only find on the NCAA website) is a good one that gives an idea of overall defense:
Rank -Team ---% #50---Denver--.170 #71---USD-----.175
#129--Omaha---.192 #136--PFW-----.193
#190--UND-----.205

So here's the weird part: The two defenses are polar opposites of each other: Denver is the best blocking team and USD is the worst. USD is the best digging team and Denver is the worst.
So I think the digging is what it is. Our back court will be good. If we can block well, and beat their block, we have a shot.
Wilson and Grathoff are our best blockers right now. They are getting .8 and .9 blocks per set, and the Yotes overall are getting 1.77 blocks per set, compared with Denver's 2.21

Not a good night. Coyotes lose in 3.
Played good defense but had trouble attacking the ball

Yeah, seemed a little "out of system" with the setting. We were saving all kinds of balls, but our hitters didn't have many good looks. Annie ended up having to set many of the balls, and as a Libero she is not allowed to set above her head. On the bright side, Denver was limited to 4 blocks in three sets, far below their average. On the other hand, Susak played much better than she had this season.

Yotes vs MAvs:
1st set was neck and neck until Omaha pulled away... 2nd set the Yotes DOMINATED 25-10, and it wasn't even that close. 3rd set is neck and neck.....

The Coyotes are not failing. They are playing very well, IMO. Omaha is a big blocking team, and the jousting at the net is intense. Our blockers have risen to the occasion. Two great teams going blow for blow. If anything, I'd say we have lost a few points on digs, and that is our strength. One of the reasons Dotseth is so good is her touch. she really mixes off-speed and power.

No, watched on stream. Worked late tonight. Every time I plan a trip to Vermillion for a VB match, something seems to come up. Usually kids activities.

Got it. Wife got home late from Minneapolis so didn’t have time to get to Vermillion. Looked like we had our opportunities.
