The Jacks just gave #4 Baylor all they could handle on a neutral court in Vegas. Final was 66-72, but it was a 2-point game with just 20 seconds left. Looks like they have settled in. I hope they pull some more upsets in the non-con. Great for RPI.
That’s a tough team.

It was a perfect setting for an upset (SDSU hitting 3s, Baylor getting out-coached and playing poor). Baylor's guards are REALLY bad, but there team is huge. Down the stretch, for whatever reason, those guards starting throwing the ball to players in green instead of white/out of bounds/people's feet, and SDSU's 3s stopped going in. Would have been a giant step towards 2 bids. Side note: the venue they played in was really something. I don't know what (literally), but obviously not made for basketball. Possibly Roman gladiator fighting?

I’m glad the Jacks are good. So are the Coyotes. Keep winning, beat teams you shouldn’t, then decide it on the floor. Most likely you’ll have 3 shots at it.
I love our team and our coach.

Some Summit Scores from the weekend: (with Massey rankings)
#53 USD beats -----#202 Montana -------64-41 #116 Denver beats #245 St Bonaventure 76-62 #163 ORU beats ---#194 Texas State ---81-64 #274 Omaha beats #343 Florida A&M ---57-50
#40 SDSU loses to --#26 Buffalo --------55-61 #270 NDSU loses to #173 North Texas --78-92 #315 PFW loses to --#188 SIU-E --------49-57
So USD and Denver took care of business, ORU took it to a decent opponent, Omaha shows signs of life, and SDSU misses a big upset opportunity. (they have been winning tough games prior to this weekend) The other two are just bad.
North Dakota had an upset chance @ Penn State last week, but let it slip away in the 4th Q.

Will be grudgingly rooting for the rabbits.....
It’s an RPI thing.

Jacks up 34-12 at the half. AJ has a good game plan for the Phoenix. They are prone to turnovers, and the Jacks have really gotten after it, forcing turnovers and scoring in transition. When GB has time to set up their half-court defense they are tougher to score on. The Jacks have really attacked quickly, throwing them off.
Because of the aggressive defense GB has gone into a shell offensively, forcing late clock shots, picking up their dribble and playing passively.
Jacks using size advantage in the paint too.

I can’t believe this is the same GB team that beat Missouri this year.

I watched the last 5 minutes of the 1st qtr. GB was awful on O. Like more shots missed everything than drew iron awful. Was really pulling for a shutout (GB scored first points with about 1 minute left).

I watched the last 5 minutes of the 1st qtr. GB was awful on O. Like more shots missed everything than drew iron awful. Was really pulling for a shutout (GB scored first points with about 1 minute left). I watched the first half, then just sporadically after that. I think the third quarter was different. SDSU got a little lackadaisical with the lead, and lowered their intensity, and GB became more aggressive. To be honest, it would have been tough to maintain the level the Jacks had in the first half; they were on fire. GB was able to chip away at the lead, and got it back to under-13, then the Jacks poured it on at the end for a 30-point win. This isn't the same Green Bay that has dominated the Horizon for the last two decades. Not a lot of size, and the offense isn't dynamic. They can still get after it in the half-court defense, so I wouldn't take them too lightly. I just think that a similar game plan against them of an aggressive, harassing D and transition offense plays right into our strengths. The Jacks' and Yotes' similarities are more striking when pitted against a common opponent. That's a good coach, though. Might end up being a chess match between Dawn and her former mentor.

State picked up a good win for the conference beating #21 Drake by 9. Drake is a good team, that is a good win. I wonder if this could be the year if we get two bids.

That was an important win - and I don't think it was an upset (though I understand why it is given that label). Yotes played them close @ Drake when Duffy & AA were still not important pieces on the O yet, and would expect a different outcome if that game was played today. I have to think if the Yotes beat either Mizzou or Indiana and SDSU beats Wyoming, then 2 bids should become expected. (Barring anything drastic and if DU keeps winning.) Obviously, if the Yotes run the non-con schedule and SDSU beats WY & Oregon, then the conversation is about rankings and 2 bids becomes a no-brainer.

Kiyoat mentioned that this win helps our RPI since we play sdsu 3 times and Drake just the 1 time. I wish we could have had that Drake game at home. Hopefully next year they'll be even better and returning the trip. We did have a couple home-and-homes with Drake a few years back.
We really do have a great shot to put ourselves in the at-large conversation this year. Missouri, Indiana, and Loyola Marymount are going to be huge challenges though. Thankfully those last two are at a neutral site. Winning 2 of those 3 is likely mandatory.
