John Konchar is the best all around player in the league. Cue outraged bunny fan responses in 3,2,1...

And the Jacks have their first conference loss @ Fort Wayne, 88-104. That undefeated run through the conference that many on their board were predicting didn't take long to blow up.

Zimmer kept referencing something about steamrolling/undefeated conference run on twitter, but I had no idea what he was talking about. Must have been from their fan board? Usually he doesn't even acknowledge those opinions.

Had to laugh checking standings that UND whose fans hate what they call the “ slummit” and certainly feel they are above this level of BB are now 0-2. Denver the second most arrogant fan base is 0-3 NDSU won a game! Their coach is not very good but has them one game out of cellar. lots of parity right now in the middle. IPFW & Oral Roberts leading the way with wins not their mouths as we have seen from the bottom feeders.

Standings:
PFW 4-1(12-8) wins tie SDSU 4-1(14-6) UNO 3-1(9-8) ORU 3-2(7-13) NDSU 2-2(8-10) wins tie USD 2-2(8-9) UND 2-3(8-10) WIU 1-4(6-12) Den 0-5(5-14)
Both in rankings and standings, Denver and WIU need to get out of last place. The rest is hardly decided, but I do like the fact that both front-runners have losses.
I'm hoping to see the Magnificent 7 limp their way up the standings to get a favorable seed in the tournament. We will have a distinct disadvantage in the 2nd and third rounds of the SLT because of depth, so I'd much prefer to play a bottom-3 team in the first round.

WIU set the tone in the 1st 5 minutes and never let go. They threw the ball inside on three of the 1st four possessions and got two dunks and a layup. That made everything else easier as guys where moving the ball until they were wide open instead of jacking up shots with people all over them.

SDSU continues to impress. Their basketball program is top notch. As far as athletics go they may be the best overall of all 4 Dakota schools.
The class of Summit basketball is SDSU, Omaha and PFW for the men.
For the women it’s USD & SDSU tied at 7-1 and seemingly pulling away with Denver trying to hang on to a distant third.
The financial and organizational problems at UND have them scraping the bottom of the barrel in all sports including hockey which is in a state of decay as well. Denver is also struggling at the bottom of the men’s league. Both schools fan bases are anti Summit believing they are above it all.
Omaha continues to do well. Don’t know how their hockey is doing but they impress in basketball. Every bit as competitive as they were in the old NCC.

Mitch Hahn of UNO is a South Dakota varmint/rodent killer. If you haven't watched the end of the UNO v bunnies game that aired last night (Fed 14), you need to watch.
UNO was down by was much as 16. They went on a 15-0 run. Score was back and forth for last 6-7 mins of the game. With 6 seconds left, Daum draws one of his mystery fouls (only in the SL), and gets to shoot. Bunnies are by up one with about 6 seconds left. UNO goes length of the court and Hahn hits a 2 pt bucket with time expiring to win the game.
That guy has ice in his veins... that 3 ptr he hit on us at the Pentagon to send the game to overtime was bigtime... Last night's win was epic!!!
Link to shot...

That's the type of player we need to recruit. A stone-cold assassin. We had that with Mooney. Gotta wonder about Omaha's chances to silence the big blue crowd at the SLT.

Likely finish (IMO)
1 UNO 14-2 (2 wins vs PFW breaks tie) 2 SDSU 14-2
3 PFW 11-5 (win vs SDSU breaks tie if needed) 4 NDSU 9-7
5 ORU 6-10 (wins head-to head) 6 USD 6-10 7 UND 5-11 (wins head-to-head) 8 WIU 5-11
Den 2-14
The Fort Wayne-NDSU game, and the South Dakota-North Dakota game will have seeding implications, but the way the men's games have gone, who really knows what the final seeding will be?

John Gaskins on KWSN is hyping SDSU men as an at-large consideration, quoting Kevin Connors from ESPN. Zimmer was asked about it and disagreed, citing their losses, NET rank and lack of depth. I agree with Zimmer, and would add that having the WORST non-conference schedule in the league shouldn't be rewarded, unless they ran the table (which they didn't).
Gaskins referenced the NET rankings as heavily favoring power conferences, but I'd say the NET is far better than the RPI was, from what I have seen.
To be clear, Zimmer wasn't dogging on the Jacks, just being realistic about their lack of a chance at an at-large. Gaskins does a good job at creating interest by "poking the bear".
