From today's interview:
Jay: ... You play a significant amount of players. Are you comfortable with the progress rate of that group, and the process...?
Coach P: I would say that we're still in the stage where we're figuring out how all of us can play together. We've talked a lot (in the past) about adding some size, and some depth in our post position. But that changes how we do things on both ends of the court. So learning how to make those adjustments is something we're still working through at this stage...
Jay: ... You are #1 in the mid-major poll. What's that mean to you?
Coach P: It means that we're scheduling... at a level where... should we have success, then people are paying attention to it.... All that means is that we've had some success on some games, and so far have taken care of business against some very good teams....But that doesn't guarantee you anything.
...Our next four games... are very challenging opponents... in PR we play three teams in three days. That's gonna provide us another challenge in terms of: 'how quickly can we learn our opponent?' or: 'how quickly can our bodies recover?' or: 'how quickly can we adjust to different styles of play?'

I've always enjoyed Dawn's interviews, but now having Coach Lee with his brutally honest, no-holds-barred style, Dawn's responses seem a little more like coach-speak. Both of them are similarly respectful of the opponent, full of class and well spoken. And actually both of them are very competitive and animated on the sidelines, working the refs.
But Lee is something else, especially in a post-game. If nothing else, at least Coach P is not as boring an interview as Bob. Great coach, recruiter and builder. Bad interview. Like Belichick bad.

Keep doing what you do Jay! Love the coverage, and while I wish I could be at the SCSC it is an absolute pleasure to have you on the broadcast.

I know this isn't the first time, but using the lit arena floor as a backdrop is a pro move. Looks nice.
on Mad Mac's injury: "Earlier in the week we were hopeful that we would get her back, ... but by Saturday morning we knew that she wasn't going to be able to go..." "(we are) Hopeful that we can get her back soon, but it depends on how her body reacts .... we're just kind of wait-and-see."
on Sjerven: "She's someone who continues to improve and get better each practice, each game... (she is) really good offensively for us, as a presence down low, ... moving, screening, ... finding ways to get to the rim. Which makes her even harder to guard... she's in a lot of action, and moving..."
on Lamb's resurfacing: "...She has the ability to make tough plays. There are very few female basketball players that have that ability. She hit a floater on the baseline that I was thinking "that was a really tough shot", and Chloe has that ability..."
On Oral Roberts: "It's very challenging (at the Mabee Center). ORU is playing very good basketball. They are a very different style than they have been. In the past they had some dominant post players. Now they are really spacing the floor. Here's an interesting statistic: USD is 18th in the country in 3-PT FG made this year. We're 4th in the Summit, and ORU is ahead of us. They are 5th in the country. They are #1 in the Summit in FG% defense.
We're gonna have to do a good job defensively, and we have to take care of the basketball. They are very good at turning the ball over.

Good stuff on the 4th quarter rally at ORU, among other things:
