Finally (I think): An addendum on the earlier orientation thought: introduce the Coyote Crazy club mentioned above at the orientation. Get members right away and get them in the right mindset! I think I saw that Charlie will be visiting some local schools! This is a great start--I think we need to be out in the local communities more building relationships/excitement about the Yotes. If we can convince young Vermillion/Sioux City/Sioux Falls/Yankton etc students that the Coyotes are cool and that they are the local D1 team, we will have more luck getting them and their parents to the games. Let's keep the ideas rolling!

Student involvement is key both now and in the future. I would propose the Coyote Crazies become the student wing of the Howling Pack. The organization would be free but members would have to meet certain requirements such as attendance, maybe recruitment quotas, etc. They could receive the financial backing of the HP (free shirts, sponsored tailgate activities, etc.) The HP could also lend support by having an alumni act as an advisor of sorts to the Crazies, maybe even a faculty advisor. Advisors could assist them in organizational functions such as pep rallies or "yell practice". I spoke with a person who worked on the D Days committee. They sponsored a pep rally that week and said they had pretty good turnout but everyone just stood around not knowing what to do. Well HP/Crazies, there is your first recruiting target/opportunity.
This would require a nominal monetary investment by the HP. Consider it a downpayment on future investment in the HP. These Crazies will eventually graduate and become HP members themselves, making it a goo pipeline to grow the HP membership ranks. There needs to be an effort to reach out to these students and make them not only future graduates of USD, but Coyotes. There is a difference between the two. Right now there are way too many grads and far too few Coyotes coming out of USD.

Along the lines of what Mr. 53 has stated, after living in Texas for too long his thought reminds me of the Texas A&M Aggies. You will be hard pressed to find a more loyal student body and ardent alumni. Too bad I hate the Aggies but that is a different discussion.
I was thinking a sponsored football game similar to sdsu and ndsu but all I could think of was Financial Services Bowl. It is a good thing I don't work in promotions.

Just came across this link...maybe some ideas to borrow for the Coyote Crazies--> seems like a good idea to incentivize student membership in an organization formed to facilitate enthusiasm for athletics (and looks like fun): nkunorse.com/sports/2011/8/19/GEN_0819111644.aspx?id=120

Win and you'll see a rise in attendance. That's all that matters. Same goes for State.
