Honestly, it is insane to me that any great athlete would ever commit to IPFW (or departed IUPUI). I don't even understand why they have athletics. It would be similar to University Center-Sioux Falls having a team. 6% of IPFW's students live on-campus - approximately 600 students. That sounds like the worst traditional college experience ever. Hmm...UCSF. Don't give Kelby any ideas. It does have a nice ring to it though, but people would just think it was the University of California at Sioux Falls. Let’s be real, they’d think it was the University of California at San Francisco

Jech injured his foot landing on an opponent, is now in a walking boot with crutches.
By my count we have 7 guys available. Kelley, Simpson, Peterson, Armstrong, Umude, Robinson, and Johns. We are approaching a point where we might have to burn redshirts just to avoid forfeiting games.

We have a new player available as they are now suiting up Caleb Cline. I believe he was a practice player for the women's squad and moved to the men's team as the injuries piled up.

GREAT TEAM CHARACTER WIN! And against a very talented, hot and sharp shooting Ft Wayne team. Very good overall team defense especially in 2nd half and the offense really stepped up also in the 2nd half! GO YOTES!!!

I caught much of the game on TV, and noticed 2 things related to development: 1. Stan's shot selection improvement and being more aggressive towards the hoop (Lee has mentioned they were working on it) 2. Closing the game strong (after so many going the other direction in the last 5 minutes)
Good showing today. Trust the process, I guess?

Looks like they are having some technical difficulties with the postgame presser link.

My takeaways from this game for whatever they're worth: 1. Umude is turning into an absolute force on the offensive end. Ft. Wayne tried a bunch of different tactics to try and guard him and nothing worked 2. I really feel for Jech. Poor kid can't catch a break. Seems like he's been injured every season he's been here. 3. This team really plays hard and must be in great shape. Six players combined for 196 of the 200 minutes and two played all 40. 4. All four seniors on this team are now in or have been in a boot this season. Just unreal. 5. Ft Wayne played man the entire game and after the success SDSU had with a zone I thought that might be a look that would be thrown at us more. 6. With the defensive intensity they bring they'll be competitive in every game. Might not win them all, but they'll keep it interesting.
Bottom line: the old cliche "you're never as bad as you seem after a loss, nor as good as you seem after a win" applies here, the State game and this one being perfect examples, but as a fan you really have to appreciate these players. Despite all the adversity that they've been hit with, they continue to play hard and bust their asses. It's fun to watch and easy to root for. For Powers, Jech and Burch-Manning's sake I hope they heal up and get to finish out their careers with a flourish.

They had the players prepared for PFW and they executed a good game plan. Also liking the more uplifting tone of Coach Lee (win or lose), and in my opinion, the stronger buy-in from the players. It is going to be extremely difficult to get this level of performance out of 7 guys for the balance of the season because they will wear down at some point. However, I do recall Boots going with a short rotation for much of his history. Anyway, a very enjoyable and well earned victory!
