Nice. Good choice. X-Country & Track & Field have always been very good at the U for as long as I can remember. Credit to the great coaches we have here. Hoping for a successful season.

Congratulations Chris on the gold medal in the Pan American games in Lima, Peru!!! We are now inside the time frame where you can qualify for the olympics. I wonder if that clinched it for him?

I googled for info and the U.S. Olympic trials for all events will be in Eugene, OR June 19-28 2020. In pole vault the top 3 competitors will make the team as long as they make the Olympic standard which is 19'1/2". If any in top three don't make minimum then the next person who did will qualify. Also sounds like there is a world ranking that could also come into play but what I've read so far is very vague on the specifics.

Congrats to Chris for being named the Indoor Track Athlete of the Week by the Summit League which is the 22nd time he has been honored!!! He had the top collegiate jump at the National PV Summit in Reno clearing 18'8 1/4" which equals the NCAA lead this season!! He is also on the Bowerman watch list for the top T & F athlete of the year along with 9 others!! The Bowerman is the T & F equivalent of the Heisman in football!!

It will be interesting to see if the men can start placing high in the conference meets again. Off the top of my head, other than pole vault, high jump (one of the deepest squads in the country), and Eldon Warner they have a ton of potential waiting to break out. I'm sure I'm forgetting some guys though.

Just incredible! It will be so much fun to watch how much he will have accomplished when it's all said and done. I've been told pole vaulters don't reach their peak until their late 20s.

I have tickets for the Olympic trials at Eugene in June and plan (or had planned) to see Chris compete. Now, of course, things have changed. Self-imposed stay at home since I got back by plane from three weeks in Florida this past Saturday. Packed plane, so hoping for the best as I am older.
My granddaughter used to say "it isn't fair" when faced with some difficulty. I responded that life isn't fair. Stay home if you can my friends and stay optimistic. We'll weather this difficulty and look forward to better times.
