I've heard admin is negotiating a new contract for Dawn... She should be up for a decent pay increase... and hopefully we get her to sign a 5-yr contract.

Looks like NDSU is finally narrowing down four finalists for the WBB coaching spot. Kayla Ard, Denver Asst. Coach Jory Collins, Kansas Asst. Coach Chuck Love, Nebraska Asst. Coach (former asst. at USD) Allison Pohlman, Drake Asst. Coach

I would think Coach Love would be taking a financial hit going from the Huskers to NDSU.

I would think Coach Love would be taking a financial hit going from the Huskers to NDSU. possibly. Or maybe a lateral move, financially. The guy from Kansas potentially would be making similar money to Love. Looking at resumes, they are putting a premium on "Recruiting coordinators", and good recruiters in general. Pohlman @ Drake has been recruiting this region the longest, followed by Love, so I'd think that would be valuable. Ard @ Denver has a variety of experience in different regions, especially the South. Collins @ Kansas has D-II head coaching experience. All things being equal, I'd put a premium on upper Midwest recruiting, and being a part of winning culture. Pohlman and Love would be my top choices.

Has anybody read what the NDSU salary might be?

Has anybody read what the NDSU salary might be? No. I read at Bisonville that Love is making $150k at NU, Walseth was making a little under 200k. Walseth's salary surprises the heck out of me. I'd guess they will want to pay competitively. AJ was making over 200k, but just signed another extension this January. Dawn is making 210k, and rumored to get yet another extension this year. If I had to guess, I'd say it depends on the candidate they want, and what it would take to get them to Fargo. Amy Williams rejected a lowball offer from NU before accepting the position, so I doubt they will be able to lowball Chuck. If I were NDSU, I wouldn't pay more than they need to for an unproven commodity. They can always go up with extensions.

You would think It would have to be competitive with the old salaries more back end loaded probably if they are moving from assistant to head coach. It may have already been mentioned but what are USD & SDSU paying? With the success that should be some kind of bench mark.

According to this recent Argus Leader article: www.google.com/amp/s/amp.argusleader.com/amp/3300706002A.J. is making $235,000 per year on s 4-year contract, signed this season. Dawn is making $210,000 per year based on a 3-year contract signed last spring, but could see an extension this year. No idea on the rest of the conference. I assume they are lower.

I remember JD had his name mentioned as a candidate for a coaching position lately, my memory isn't the greatest anymore, can't remember which Institution he was applying to (Texas Tech maybe, along with Stollings from Minny, Minn after Stollings left ?), but it must have been in the last year or two i'm thinking, it would have been a big step up . So, yeah, he might be looking for something better, but I think he likes it at Western Ill, it's just he'd like to make a little more than he does now.Every Institution should pay their coaches as much as they can afford, or watch them say bye,bye when someone flashes a bunch of money in their face, especially winning coaches who put a lot of effort into being a winning coach and want to be appreciated, yes, most are all appreciated, but financial security is a big magnet, but higher up the ladder you go, the more pressure you have to win, but you usually have greater resources to help you succeed too. Many things factor in to whether or not coaches stay content, or go out searching for something different, each individual is unique for determining their happiness.

In reality, $132,500 is nothing to turn your nose up at. Amazing how jaded a person can get.

In reality, $132,500 is nothing to turn your nose up at. Amazing how jaded a person can get. Yet the Bison seem to have taken an adequate amount of time to fill the head coach position for the women in Fargo. It would seem likely the starting pay will be over the salary JD is earning. The starting pay could be in excess of $175K and there are assistant coaches applying. The pay is increasing in this neighborhood we know as the Summit.
