The actual championship game was last night. Congrats to UNO on their first ever bid.

Looks like NDSU is dancing once again. I was never very impressed with them this year but maybe they were as good as their fans thought they were all year.

What a joke of a tournament that turned out to be. NDSU is not good, at all. Horrible year for the Summit.

Wonder if they still want to fire their coach?

What a joke of a tournament that turned out to be. NDSU is not good, at all. Horrible year for the Summit. It was not a good year for the summit at all. It's not like I thought Omaha was any good either, I was really hoping we could get them in the first round. Honestly, state was probably the only decent team this year and they weren't as good as I thought they would be. Last year us and state both had good teams but after that there was a big drop off, which was why I thought we could take a step back this year and still finish 2nd in the conference. That was before Hags was ruled out for the year and we had a rash of injuries.

Should have been improved by all metrics, going up against less competition, but still had to back into the 1 seed before their monumentally embarrassing loss to WIU. Literally nothing for the conference to take pride in this year.

Literally nothing for the conference to take pride in this year. Yup. The life of a mid-major conference. In order to rise above it, you either have to have a collective effort to raise the overall profile of the conference, ala the MVC men’s programs in the early 2000’s, or individually you can raise your own profile with excellent scheduling, coaching, recruiting. This year’s Men’s teams were collectively bad, scheduled bad (including the best team having the weakest schedule) and nobody was really peaking at tournament time. So we are left with randomness. Yay. Maybe this will lead to some momentum for the Bison’s program, but it’s not like they were seen as a rising program prior to this win. More likely it will just tie them to this coach that has been mediocre. UNO has had good coaching and just needed some player stability (transfers have been a problem) and fan base-building. This was a huge missed opportunity for them.

Men’s Summit League 2018-19: “The season of inconsistency and missed opportunities”. Great tee-shirt slogan.
