While last night is certainly not how anyone hoped or envisioned our season to end the process of looking forward to next year begins with a great deal of promise. We have some good players returning and hopefully Coach Lee’s recruiting class will show they are capable of adding minutes.
Lost in last nights debacle was saying good bye to 3 seniors. First of all, thank you to Dan Jech and Logan Power for giving everything you had to USD basketball the past few years. You seem to be great young guys that will do well in life. I appreciate you and all your efforts.
A special thank you to Trey Burch-Manning for providing our fans a fun 3 years of watching you contribute heavily to some very successful seasons. You always played hard, gave everything you had, and were a class act. Coming from Idaho to South Dakota had to be a decision based on faith. You had a lot of success both as an individual and as a member of the team. You’re a great role model for young boys. I literally cringed when your ankle got rolled last night near the end of the game, yet somehow that typified the season. But not lost in last nights game was a true reminder how hard you played whether you were up 20, down 20, or the game on the line. I will be forever grateful you chose to be a Coyote. Please stay close to the program as you move on with life. And make sure you come back to see us. Hopefully you’ll never forget your time here. Thanks Trey and Gods speed

Thanks Trey and Gods speed I was just thinking about TBM today, and how much he gave in that last game. Such a tough loss for the Yotes, but watching him exit the arena on crutches right next to where we were sitting (we lucked out with some great seats from friends), my son was high-fiving anyone that would do it. Stan came over and fived him, which thrilled the hell out of him. TBM was so completely dejected that he didn’t see my kid, but I have no doubt that he would have come over if he wasn’t in such pain. My point is that both TBM and Umude were role models for my son, who has chosen basketball as his year-round sport. Both of them displayed grit and unselfishness in that game, and I’m grateful for that. We will miss both players, but because of them, we will both continue following Yote basketball. I told my son about Umude transferring from USD today. I mentioned that he had interest from Cal, AZ and TX. His immediate reaction was: WOW, good for him! I was surprised at his reaction, but after a little reflection I’d say that he was right. Good for him.
